Late 1970s Interfax Harmonic Percolator, hybrid version.
1966 Germanium Mosrite Fuzzrite.
1981 EHX Big Muff Pi v6 black & red "reverse" gfx.

While these last 2 round out my Top 5 MUST HAVES...I don't curently have either one
1960-something Dallas Rangemaster
1960-something Sola Sound Tonebender Professional mk II...or an early 70s Colorsound mk III in yellow

*THE CASE*
Big box vintage effects are my preference. Guess I enjoy the chaos of component drift. Also historical context...and the challenge of trying to find non-whored sounds in stuff that's been available for decades.
Simple 1, 2, 3 and 4 transistor circuits...big on versatility.
Rangemaster for stacking and lower gain turf on its own,
Fuzzrite for the raspiest garage sounds, both hi and lofi, with more input sensitivity than its contemporaries
Muff for bass, mostly. Also guitar leads.
Tonebender for both shortscale and baritone guitar. Also Bass VI.
Harmonic Percolator for everything. Rhythm, lead, low gain, 55dB of air-folding chaos. Guitar, bass, synths, samplers, drum machines...whatever. Makes everything more interesting.

I'm not an octave-y guy but I would melt faces with an OEM Tycobrahe Octavia as the runner-up, #6

yeah.. JUST 5 is a slightly different game than 10, i know a lot of you dudes have way more experience than others, and have insane pedal collections (been there)

i wouldn't feel bad making a list full of muffs and clone/upgrades... because it's had so many incarnations through out the years,

the reverse was an op amp version if i'm not mistaken, while certainly sexier looking (it'd be fun if they did a 1 month switch again with their current line)

THE V6 SOUND -

The transistor based Big Muff circuit returned (it actually never went away - see the V3 "tone bypass" entry). The tone is very similar to the V3 Big Muffs described above, and basically the same as the tone bypass V3. which used the exact same schematic. In the examples I have played and owned the tone has more bass and can sound a bit flatter and fuzzier than typical V3 Muffs. Some have the mids slightly more scooped than the V3s. All of the V6 Muffs I have played have had more sustain/gain on tap than typical V3 pedals, but most were also much noisier, had less clarity for leads, and were more fuzzy sounding. Compared to the V4/V5 op-amp Big Muffs, the V6 has more gain, more bottom end, and is more reactive to pick attack and harmonics, but it is also much noisier at high gain settings. The 'tone bypass' (not true bypass) switch was kept from the V3 and V5 versions, which allows you to completely remove the tone section from the circuit. This gives a raunchy, raw, and very loud tone, but lacks some of the tredemark Big Muff scooped mids character. The bass, treble, and fuzz varies slightly from unit to unit."

It cherry picks (nearly all of) my favorite characteristics from numerous Muff revisions, and puts them in one of the best-looking EHX enclosures to date. The clarity of mine with tonestack from 3o'clock to max treble harkens to Ram's head character...only this one isn't noisy like Kit Rae describes. Truly a gem inside & out.

As for how sought-after...while such isolated criteria is of no personal consequence...I'm fully confident mine would sell in under 30 minutes of listing in the BST

The Boss FZ2 for its huge balls and tightness. Plus its stupidly versatile.

The Maestro MFZ for being crazy subtle and understated.

The Foxx Tone Machine for its ability to be used as a fantastic alternative to a muff, but with the ability to get all octave up in here.
