Instagram from Nick, Brian and Kurt showed Mr Turners board for the recent SUMAC recording sessions. Tu-3, Small grey two knob, DBA Apocalypse, DL4, Bluesky. I'd post the pics but I'm on my phone.

Long time lurker...sorry for the necro, BUT...since the new SUMAC is on the way and the new single is out - let's revive this!
"Rigid Man" is awesome and so are the guitar tone on that record. The EGC and Fryette is obviously a huge part gearwise, but what do you guys think about gain/overdrive/distortion? He seems to be getting some from the Fryette, but there also is a Death by Audio Fuzz Apocalypse on his board and some other white knob pedal I can't recognize...do you guys think the fuzz is something he uses on "special parts" of the songs or constantly on? Or is the Fryette gain his "main" bringer of heaviness? I'm curios since the guitars on "Rigid Man" has a lot of characteristics that I'm looking for myself - incredibly heavy but at the same time clear and distinct.
Cheers guys

How about "Roderick"? I've always wanted a pedal named Roderick.

Dude, Sumac's 2 releases have just about been my favourite heavy records of the last few years. "What one becomes" sounds especially ferocious. EGCs, Freyette, Kurt Balou's production and an old church as the studio = fuck yeah

Wicked. Aaron is using the Deco to create a small delay between his main amp and a slave on the other side of the stage to make things sound extra huge as the only guitar player. Mad idea.

Sure sounds like the sort of job you need a $300 delay pedlol forEv_O))) wrote:

So that guy's kinda like me. He has a good excuse to go overboard with his pedalboard though, and he probably also doesn't have to eat noodles for a month when he goes pedal shopping
If he's not a member here, I'm pretty sure he lurks here once in a while
