OK so I finally listened to Stars of the Lid after like four years of reading about them on here (mostly from Soni D, I believe).

Not drone, but:
It took me a bit to get past the "this is so simple, I could do this" mentality (which I hate when people do...) and now I find it pretty relaxing and nice for being productive. I think there are other albums in this series too.

This might sound/seem weird, but I used to listen to black metal-tinged bands at a really low volume when I was studying. It was really soothing.

Wolves in the Throne Room and Woe are two of my favorite bands for this.
