So my small echo array arrived today and it's pretty much as UG described -- "musical" is really the best word you can describe. It does the Binson thing very, very well. Which is rad, since the Echorec is my favorite style of delay among the classics.

As to the plays well with other pedals thing -- I haven't tried it with my normal bass board yet, but I will soon and report back.

Got a PM about the differences between the SEA and the 1776 figured I might as well share my response:

The SEA sounds fucking amazing, in the sonic sense of the word. The controls are really intuitive, the separate clean/echo volumes have enough boost to provide a lot of versatility in tones, and the unit is dead quiet. Plus it really nails the smeariness that people associate with the Binson Echorec (the real one). That said, it does its one thing really well: and while there are options within that sound, they're not really outside of the basic ballpark.

The 1776, on the other hand, is versatile to the max. So much so that I have a hard time wrapping my head around it when I'm using it on the fly, but it does a very solid Echoplex, Space Echo and Echorec. My litmus test for that last circuit is always One of These Days, and the '76 can do that as often as you want. It's a PT-2399, so it's a little noisier than the SEA but you won't notice when you're playing guitar (I only noticed when plugging straight into my interface, which is my go-to method of recording sounds these days). Also, the controls react differently based on which style of echo you have selected, which makes it a knob twiddler's dream: especially when you consider that finding the same sound again is much easier than expected.

I haven't noticed either pedal not playing well with anything in my chain, although I'm kind of lame and always put delay last, so I can't comment on how it sounds pre-dirt. Hope this helps!
