I, admittedly, didn't really look into the Pitchfork. Just knew that I liked the polyphonic detuning on the Whammy V, so I went with the Drop.

Did you ever try polyphonic octave down on chords?
I've never heard it sound anyway decent to be honest, another problem is that truly polyphonic pitchshifting in pedal format is always digital and it always sounds weaker than analog octave down.
On another note the EHX (Bass) Micro Synth isn't too bad at tracking simple chords with the octave down though, it doesn't really replicate the notes you play but it mostly just makes everything extra heavy, which I tend to prefer anyway.

Pitch shifters and octavers are completely different working effects. Pitch shifting is sample based and always leads to a delayed effect whereas digital or analog octavers have an almost instant octave down effect due to a totally different effect method. Comparing octavers with pitch shifters is the apples/oranges thing.

I have tried several analog octavers and also digital octavers. They all don't sound the same, no matter if digital or analog. And some analog models might have tracking problems, while digital models might not sound as punchy as the analog stuff. It depends on the model. The digital pedals that I know (OC-3 and Hotone OCTA) are great sounding models - really! Digital isn't always bad. :)

Maybe not but do they really sound as fat and heavy as the really great analog ones, personally I don't think so.
Also depends on what you're looking for of course.

Analog octave pedals tend to not have very good polyphonic tracking.
