Don't know what the profile is called, but I love whatever fneder puts on their japanese jazzmasters and teles. They're not the same, but I like em both. Fairly slim and easy on my small hands, and both with a 9.5 radius I think.

Big and chunky like a baseball bat. I hate wafffer thin shredder guitar necks. It just feels like there in almost nothing in my hand.

I like big soft V's but haven't had one in a while. My Godin with "ergocut" profile is a kinda small slightly asymmetrical almost vintage C that I was surprised to love. If I were still playing hours on end I would want something bigger for comfort, though. My Fernandes Strat has kind of a D that is okay but not fantastic. Absolutely cannot do wide flat shredder necks, which makes some whole brands no-go territory. (Well, that and the Floyd trems.)

As much as I love slayer I can't stand Floyds.

Yep, I hated Floyds when they were the current rage, when people were slamming them on everything. Hate, hate, hate Floyds, although ironically the lessons I learned fixing funky ones translated pretty well to making Jazzmaster-type setups work .

For metal-dude guitar stuff, I love the original Kahlers, even if they do go through string ball end retainers on the bridge like drunken sailors sometimes.

But I can get almost the same territory as a Kahler on a Jazzmaster/Jag trem, and called it good as I liked the bar action itself a little better.

In necks, it's a relational thing to the body - Gibson-type neck won't work for me on a Fender. I gravitate towards medium-large on the Fender stuff, and given a choice, 9.5" radius and larger frets. Neither is a dealbreaker, and I'll trade either for non-nitro finish (hate sticky, and my body chemistry and some nitro just doesn't get along - I *will not* buy a nitro finish guitar without an extensive return policy) or the absence of a skunk stripe. I hate the way the stripe feels in five+ years once it starts to shrink just a little like all of them do, or if it doesn't match the contour perfectly (or both).

My 83' Ric 4003 has what I consider the perfect bass neck, long, slim, and fast. Fender Jazz necks, preferably CIJ are a close 2nd.

For guitars, I need a chunky, late 50's Gibson profile. Switching back and forth from bass to a Tele was just a nightmare, my fingers need a wider string spacing than your average Fender.

Tele typically has the thinnest nut profile (smaller string spacing) combined with the way it hangs.

I've never found one that didn't make my hand cramp up and forearm start to seize within 20m of touching it.

Same reason I couldn't play the Korean Squier stuff generally - the width was just too damn thin.
