Bad Cat's have the full round lower end most of the vox-inspired amps lack and have a lot of room on the volume knob before they starts to break up noticeably. Takes pedals really well and even lights up!
Ive heard cool things about the minicat-never heard one in person though.

Swap the speaker or get a different sounding speaker cab to run it through instead of (or in combination with) the stock speaker. These things can make more of a difference than you would think.

Thanks guys... The amp is ok.
The bigest problem is the guitar... Tele are not for me.

Then you're clearly doing something wrong as a player

That's the TGP wisdom anyway...
But I'm with you. Cant stand Teles as a player, despite some of my favorite tones (as a listener) originating from them.
Interesting thread though...how the immediate thought was to blame your amp, but the unrest was actually coming from the instrument, itself.

John wrote:Dude, I gave up on amps a couple of years ago. Solid state power amp and pick a preamp you like. Fuck, pick seven. Combos, fuck a combo, it's just a box made to shake the shit out of your amplifier components until it falls apart. Too many parts in one package that you have to commit to. Heads are expensive and most have features you will never use. Shit be fussy, shit be not liking certain pedals, shit be sounding like one thing at home and another in a venue. Fuck amps. Amps are no good. They will always let you down.
I kinda want to subscribe to this thought.
About the amp sounding bad, my suggestion is to use one of your favorte settings or pull up a sample setting from website, put on some new strings (provided they aren't expensive-ass strings. New strings are a fun treat for me.) and try to adjust your position. Try sitting on the floor. Try being in a different room with some long cables. Try facing the amp away from you or not directly at you.
Little things add up. And it isnt just a matter of in tune/intonation. There's thousands of little factors.
Also, its a proven fact, Alcohol makes tone better.
Don't give up on your amp or tele, just go buy a pint of somethng hard or a 12 pack of beer or whatever.

65 amps are boomy like fuck! So maybe you get a lil elvis. That one sounded good to me.
Honestly those amps are for home Players in my opinion: They do Sound full, fat and have Rich harmonics. Too much for a Band situation.
And i tried them with a Tele.
But maybe the problem is earlier in the signal chain: guitar or maybe you.

Syl, if you like the way the Tele plays what about putting a really different pickup in there, like this:

No... It's been a year or so that I have that tele.
Now I can say... I dont like the neck. I prefer a wider and fatter neck.
I won't put more money on this guitar.
It's a good tele for sure... but not my kind of guitar.

That is possible.

American Design Telecaster Burnt Tobacco.
I replaced the pickup with some Lollar.
