I've been singing the RV3 praise here and on HCFX for the last decade or so. Like a lot of older non boutique peds, its one of those overlooked underrated gems that pretty much defined the sound of a whole genre. The RV3 did for postrock what the HM2 did for scandinavian black metal :)

HM2+RV3 is also a great combination. The RV3 is the perfect reverb, I want at least two more

I like pairing my rv-3 with an analog delay, get lots of added depth and texture that way due to the rv-3 being so cold.

Recently tried a rv-2, like that one alot actually, does the sigur ros thing to a "T". Need to hunt one of those down for some pre dirt verb.

I do the same thing, what are you using? I tend to pair it with either a Carbon Copy or an Ibanez ES2

I was pairing with a malekko 616 dark for a lil while, loved the results, but seems alot of the bbd type delays can't take the heat of a cranked hm-2 for example, without turning into clipping hell.

Although not analog, but "analogish", I'm using an eqd disaster transport now. Great delay that takes all and any dirt I can throw at it, and works well with my dark ass rig. Running an old traynor yrm into an emperor 2x12, and loving it.

True. I actually really prefer the sounds and versatility of a cheaper and more compact approach like that. Meaning I'll gladly take an RV-3 plus an ES-2 over one big and overly complex modeler like a Space/Timeline/Superdelay.

Can't say my ES2 has proven to be reliable, but other than that, I can't think of a single other cheapish analog delay with 1ms of delay time, tap tempo, modulation, and that much control over the oscillation.

I loved the somewhat cold metallic repeats on the RV3' delay. I like my digital reverbs that way, and I like my analog delays dark and mushy. Which is why i parted with my DD5, the repeats werent either here not there. Didn't cut through a mix as good, but didnt have the warm degraded analog mojo either.

Getting way of topic there, sorry :)

I'm definitely the same way in regards to modeler. I really don't need 100000 different types of delay, and between the ES2 and the RV3 I have every sound I could need covered.

that works really well. not my thing (life is harsh and cold, i want my delays to match) but definitely a good combo.

i've always been curious about the RV-2, never seem to really hear about those and they go cheaper than the RV-3's usually.

There's an RV2 for $85 on TGP currently.
The RV2 seems pretty cool, but apparently they have really high current draw and are pretty noisy?

OT: RV-3 at the start of the chain rocks into dirt n whatnot I always thought. Don't notice the cold so much that way

I played the rv3 at work the other day, and its true, all I played through it was post rock with the mix nearly 100% wet.
