I'm so glad all my "must have" pedals are between $150-$300. The only things I could see myself dropping that kind of cash on are an EGC Bass and a Science amp. And even then, it would have to be a winning the lotto/huge inheritance type situation.

Crazy occurs at all price points - I'm just as aghast at people paying $500 for Hondos or Hagstroms or Sunn stuff as the $2k Klon. Value is always relative.
That's because you're old, furtkamp, and you remember when that stuff was cheap. :hello:

I do. And I'm old enough that I don't look back with rose-colored glasses either.

Didn't want the stuff then, didn't want it now. Gear doesn't age like wine!

I liked the cheap stuff then and I still like the cheap stuff now. :D I'd just never pay the "cheap" prices they're asking now.

:oldrant:

Oh, inflation.

Yea, I love cheap when it's something I want. I don't get stuff just because of that though.

I'm the guy who buys the stuff during the 'no longer hip' initial castoff period when the price bottoms out, and laughs and uses what he always wanted but couldn't afford then.

Fast forward ten years or more and I couldn't afford it now either!

Can't afford either.

Years ago, I missed out on a Tele Custom for $500 and now they're going for at least five or six times that.

Yea. I kicked myself for not taking home one of the original MIJ VI reissues in the 90s from a shop I had a handshake line of credit at, could have had it at legit invoice.

Did that for over ten years as they crept up to well past what I was willing to pay.

Almost missed that boat on getting a new-to-me Space Echo a few years back as well. Few months after I got mine, couldn't find a single one (150/201 or newer) for < 500. And now that's usually a pipedream.

Guess it pays to get old sometimes.

My Altec amps each cost $239 in 1963. In today's money that's like $3600 for the pair.
Easy to justify paying $400 each...the massive Peerless transformers are now worth that much...and the amps themselves sound killer :animal:
When all is said & done I could have 4 killer tube PAs for less than the price of a single Klon at *market value*

Oh, don't disagree on some of the stuff. The amount of $100-200 "nobody wants" amps is always hysterical, I watch that range like hawks.

Not saying what I'm looking for next lest one of you poach it!

I don't blame you. I wouldn't've wanted to play a Centaur in GC either.

Do you always carry a mason jar full of semen around with you or would you've had to produce it on demand?
You and I both know the answer to this. I fill it with the semen of many men. It's a bukakke mason jar.

They may not be selling those Klons but they're probably selling a ton of soul foods.

Why wouldn't I? It's probably one of the funniest things I've ever read on this site!

Also the lifestyle as well.
