TL;DR: 2 guys started it, eventually one wanted out. The one who wanted out wouldn't let the other keep the name and go on business as usual so they closed down the name. The guy who wanted to keep going started up Diplomat cabs.
Dictator cabs/amps, I believe. If they weren't so expensive I'd be hitting them up for a vertical 2x12 right now. They look so nice!
I don't think they're as cool looking as emperor cabs, no fancy logo plate thing. how are people gonna know you spent a lot of money

anybody know if there's any cab builders in canada?

Olde Crow Cabs (I think that's the name), used to be based out of the Vancouver area. I think they're in Alberta now? No experience with them, but I thought they looked good back when they were advertising on Van CL.

I used to have an Olde Crow. Not as nicely built as my Emperor but not terrible either. Worth checking out.

and again, I really like the look of Dictator cabs. Plus it's Sean running them, who has always been super nice and awesome to work with in the past through Emperor. At least every time I ordered. I wouldn't mind one of these vertical 2x12's. I might pick one one if I can work out a good deal. I'll let you guys know how it is if I do and when it arrives.

For reals? I freaking love Prometheus. One of my all time favourite albums. And I dig a lot of Ishan's solo stuff.

I looked at a bunch of the Dictator stuff at Chicago Music Exchange, as they have five or six of them in stock. I was thinking about a 1x12", 1x15". At this point I'm on the fence between Janice, whom I emailed a week ago or so but have not heard back from yet, or Verellen for something custom. My experience last year with Verellen was top notch.

I emailed Ben a while back about doing a 3x12" with the V cutouts, similar to the Nite King: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BOp2UD0CUAE4cz3.jpg. I promptly got a response back and a very reasonable quote. I just think the cutouts look so art deco, and would be nice to have something no else has.

Plus it'd be cool to have something matching to sit under my head. I'll post pictures if I wind up ordering one.

You should also contact Old Soul out of Syracuse. I've posted about his stuff before, but it's pretty goddamn sick, well constructed and sounds awesome. I've played a bunch in the music shop he owns (disclaimer: he's also my friend, but I also don't recommend anything I wouldn't use myself!). Saving up for a 1x12 currently.

When Jim Marshall died didn't they make fun of him or cut him down on their facebook page? Or was that another cabinet company? I specifically remember a cabinet company being like "lol fuck jim marshall" the day he died and everybody was like "duuuuude."

lol

Yeah, someone on their FB posted something like that. It backlashed and got deleted with a statement saying the person who posted it was "let go" and that it wasn't them. Who knows what the real story is, but it was definitely Emperor. Regardless, I'm stoked for the vertical 2x12 I'm in the process of ordering from Sean @ Dictator.

Sounds like a name jwar would use if he were building cabs.

:erm: Oh, no, that would be "Bonerhead".
as a dude that mods my randall nameplates to say anal and bogners to say boner, I would play dickhead cabs
