I still love Orphion! Even if you just use the interface and use it to Midi other stuff it's just so great to play that thing. My favorite!

When not touchscreen, the Rockband Keytar and a cheap USB MIDI interface. If I didn't already have it, I probably would be looking at one of the KMI things, probably the more expensive one with CV outs.

The iPad rocks for synthy goodness. For me there's more synth fun to be had with an iPad than with a computer. Have to call out Audiobus, if you're not using it you should be. Chain your apps together for 50 shades of bad trip!

Arctic ProSynth has a ton of great sounds, it's the swiss army knife of iPad synths

Samvada has some great sympathetic drone stuff going on.

Sound Prism Pro is a fun weird interface, if you want something that's not a traditional keyboard you should try it out.

M3000 is awesome if you like Mellotrons. Get your King Crimson on with it.

Midi Guitar is a great input method if you hate traditional keyboards. If you're contemplating an EHX B9 or C9, this plus Audiobus plus Magellan or Gallileo will get you in the ballpark.

Haven't tried it with an external keyboard yet and probably won't anytime soon. It's just such a nifty little package all on its own, it doesn't need a whole rig of extra crap all around it. The onscreen keyboards are fine once you get the feel for them, and you can play them in ways you couldn't on a regular set of keys. Knobs are a little weird sometimes, but sliders are easy, and there's also blades, xy pads, joysticks and the like depending on which apps you get.

I'd love to try this one but it seems to be taken off the store. :(

I've also just watched a Video for Auxy which seems quite nice too. I can't find out if you are able to load your own sounds into it though.
