I am probably among the few bass players I know that prefers more frets. I prefer 24 frets or more. I like it for solo stuff with a looper works great.

yeah, I've always wanted a Fender Bass V which has 15 frets, but I'm not really a bass player.
(Bassboar, I totally approve of your new avatar.)

My current basses have 22, 22 and 21. My old Carvin had 24, and that was nice. That's really the only thing I'd change about any of my basses, is add a couple more frets. Of course really the only time I need frets up there is when I'm futilely trying to play Primus or something like that. Although one of the songs I wrote uses the 24th fret on the G string. Now I just use my whammy to hit that note.

22 is the magic number but it's not a deal breaker

24 for me on ye old guitar but in actuality I'd be happy with 10
21 or 24 on le bass. Never 22. NEVER.

Same, and I rarely play past the 15th fret.

This. I often use the highest fret on a guitar when soloing, but I don't really care what note it is because bends exist.

Mine go between 20 and 22. I notice the difference between 20 and 21/22 but don't notice the difference between 21 and 22, if you know what I mean. And I like all of them.

I used to be in this boat, my old bass was 24 frets, loved it.
Around the time I bought my T40 I began to become a bit reserved with the higher register.
It just never really sounded "right" to me.
But, I've devolved too much to ever go back, this is some quest for fire shit right here.
Ooga booga.
