I'm not extremely familar with every single one of your peds, so I'm not sure it you've got this covered or not...

But ya can't have a decent fuzz collection without at least one good tonebender style fuzz.

And in case you could use a couple more random suggestions for stuff to check out: Zvex mastotron and red witch fuzz god II are some of my all-time favorite. I'm also a bit of a EQD and blackout efectors fanboy btw. This brand spanking 'fuzz bear' for instance...I know extremely little about it, but at first glance it's got the perfect 'useable vs awesomely weird' ratio for me.

As far as octave fuzz pedals go, my research always seems to lead me back to the HBE UFO.

I kinda have a thing for octave and glitchy fuzz, and they do tend to each have their own characteristics and personalities. I started with the Blue Box, which is readily available and not too exciting, but it does fun thing when stacked (like into my Pharaoh Supreme or Black Forest).

In the middle is my Screeching Owl Hydra, which is crazy and needs to be experienced. Its PLL based...I dunno exactly what that means but it is kinda similar to the Schumann PLL..it is fuzzy and does two simultaneous octaves and can go down or up. Fuzzboxgirl did a pretty good video on youtube of it way back that shows off its range. Unfortunately they're hard to come by because its just one guy, who went on hiatus, then came back, then went out again I think.

Last is the Fuzzhugger(fx) Phantom Arcade. So much fun. It does octavey things too, but in a way that is completely different from the first two..more glitch and sputter...it sounds trashy in the best way possible

I recommend all of these, at least to experience and play with.

Oooooo!!!! I've wanted to trace that Hydra 3 for a while now. Would be interesting to compare the circuit to the PLL. Looks like an easy clone.

Easy?! I guess that's my lack of soldering skills...I managed to break one of the controls when I took it apart to coat the enclosure in epoxy to protect the decal...I got that fixed fine but where the power supply connects to the board broke off, and when I tried soldering it back on I ended up scorching the board, and it still got no power....ugh. I ended up sending it back to the manufacturer and he fixed it. Now it's perfect again...I just apparently cannot solder on a board, and all six pots are board mounted. The jacks and switch are wisely not, however.

Dang, shame we didn't cross paths earlier. I would have gladly repaired it for you, and gotten a trace at the same time. Glad you got it fixed. If ever you break it again, look me up.

I love my SansAmp and use it for a boost mostly, but I can't see getting anything resembling a fuzz tone out of it. How do you have it set? Me I flip up the DIP switches for Low Drive, Mid Boost 1, and Mid Boost 2. The Presence Drive is at 12:30, Amp Drive is at 0, the Output is at 12:30, and the High is at 12:30. I set the 3 position switch to the Rhythm setting.

For fuzzes, I just picked up a Ramble FX Twinbender and it is fucking awesome. The germanium mojo is stong on this one, and the bias control is awesome going from harsh gated sputtering velcro, to super juicy thick ripping fuzz.

I also have a BAT LSTR which is an awesome Muff type, but I may sell it soon since I already have a vintage Sovtek Green Army Muff and am kinda jonesing for something totally different than my other fuzzes. On the other hand the LSTR sounds great going into my Mesa and works well after octave and wah, which the Twinbender doesn't like.

Haha..I'll keep that in mind..but I'm not planning on wrecking anymore pedals

I do have the guts to a crybaby I attempted to turn into a true bypass, single knob filter...a fixed wah if you will, that i couldn't get to work....LED lights, true bypass works....no wah effect to be had.

Here's what I ended up going with for round 1:
-Fuzzhugger Agal Bloom XS+
-Redwitch Fuzz God II
-Devi Ever 1990 (more a distortion, I'm a sucker for the 90's grunge sounds)
-Timmy (yes, an overdrive but I figure it might go well with the others)

When they show up I'll let you guys know what I think! I had no idea there were so many variations on fuzz on the market!

Good choice. Except the Timmy, never understood the hype. It's a nice medium gain overdrive, that's it
Thanks to tgp and blues lawyers all over the world, the timmy reached some sort of Klon status, minus the price/availibility thing. Imo though there's a zillion cheaper options to a similar job just as well
