I'm torn between one of these and an Afterneath. I know the Afterneath isn't a "normal" reverb, but neither are the other two, I guess.

I just don't know which I want as my only reverb. Afterneath wins as far as footprint is concerned. But I just don't know if I can resist all those knobs on the rm-n1.

Does it do a "clean" reverb? I think I remember someone getting a footswitch to turn the post-gain on. That seems like a good idea.

It kinda does the clean verb thing but it is full of artifacts and faux springy noisy and stuff. Its awesome, but its not like p&w ambient verb stuff.

Hi fuzz-people, thanks for all your opinions. I still need to look a little longe, I guess. One thing that I find interesting is that most dba reverberation demoes show of "pretty" chords, while the rm-1n demos usually are all about the filth. And for me - maybe - too much filth. But I want to like it. I'll wait for some more demos and impressions. Wasn't "knobs" going to do a demo of the rm-1n? I think I read it somewhere on here.

stoked for the knobs demo. the RM-1N does get filthy, but that doesn't mean it can't sing! I was actually letting chords drone out with none of the RM-1N's dirt dialed in and tripping on all of the textures/harmonics it was bringing out. it was a world of sound. from what I can tell the dark/light switch on DBA's is pretty much how the hi/low switch works on the RM-1N. low is massive and cavernous while the hi toggle really zones in and brings out the harmonics then each side of the reverb output brings out certain characteristics hidden in your notes.. it's very interactive. I love the '2nd' circuit.

I had a freeze going into the RM-1N and it straight up sounded like boards of canada :omg: I might start referencing them instead of GY!BE when I speak of this pedal :p also, like others have said before me, andrew is just fucking awesome to work with. from my first inquiries, to not being able to pay on time - he was an all around great person to talk to/do business with.

Son of bitch. I'll make a demo again. I am so lazy. Have like seriously 10 I haven't uploaded. Mostly because I'm tired of people bitching about me not having a proper camera, having weird feet...etc. :)

The RM-1 is unique, the DBA is as well, but more readily available. So to me, I'd want the RM-1 because less will have it and it's fucking insane sounding. It can do cleanish sounds, but fuck clean, fuck it in it's stupid ass. What's awesome is the balls to the wall sounds it makes. The feedback on this thing seriously is the best. I know I said tha before, but it's one of the best uses of one I've had in a pedal. Creates a massive sounds instead of something pointless like a lot of feedbacks.

DO it. DO IT!

Or you know, buy both. That's the ILF way. Or at least my way. hahah

I have no idea (other than maybe send a PM?) how to go about ordering a RM-1. :idk:
Yes, PM/e-mail works and I'm in the process of getting my website updated to have full checkout :thumb:

Thank you everybody for the huge support and kind words! I really appreciate it and thank you so much!!!

Holy Schnikes wrote:I've never tried the RM-1N but I love the DBA. Simple controls, HUGE sounding, and the output is great for slamming an amp or other fuzz pedals. The ability to dial in grit is fantastic too. I use it in tandem with an older big big RRR and my reverb needs are covered.
Wanna second pretty much all of this... the Reverberation Machine before dirt and the Dr. Sci Reverberator after covers all my 'verb needs (and more)...

(Insert "woe is me" paragraph here about how my efforts to get a second one of each were foiled by the USPS...)

When I designed this circuit/pedal, I was doing it with the idea of having a sort of all in one kind of box. Plus I really fell in love with reverb, I personally prefer it over delay for myself so I thought of making something that could be an all in one. At the same time making it really unique and feature rich, because there are a shit ton of reverbs out there that are really excellent. I felt that I succeeded in making it what I wanted and more :excellent: :joy:

I love my reverberationmachine but i think i have room for another reverb. RM will be it in 2015. phantasmogorovich's demo is excellent.

I don't know the DBA but I tried the RM-1N from the tourbox and I'm pretty sure you'll love it, it's quite a unique piece of gear. :)

Okay, so I tried the RM-1N for the first time today, and holy shit.

I just spent four hours zoning out. The pedal is a work of art...no, it's witchcraft! It's extremely versatile, to the point where it feels like a shame to not to own two, or wishing you could save presets to it. If OP was worried about it not being able to sound pretty, let me bury that "myth" right away. I'm actually considering selling my Context reverb now (if you've read my posts you know I worship that pedal). It just feels limited and redundant in comparison. The sonic spectrum of the RM-1N is actually unfathomable. It can do chime, eunuch choir, classic spring, mid-size room, huge dungeons, spit, glitch, crackle, growl, drone, drive your tubes, harmonize frequencies, oscillate in the background or just eat the entire note you're playing. Even turning off the verb and using it as a straight up fuzz pedal sounds wonderful. It was it's own character and is highly tweakable. Just when you think you've found all there is to be found, you flip a switch, engage the momentary footswitch, adjust one of the NINE knobs ever so slightly or mess with the tone knob on your guitar, and there's a new effect to explore. I'm very excited about exploring the pedal more and seeing how it interacts with other pedals.

I haven't tried the DBA, but I find it hard to believe you'd be dissatisfied with a RM-1N. I see DBAs used all over. Never seen a RM-1N. I know DBA probably sells more, but still... Not ONE RM-1N.

I'm basing this on online demos of the RM1-N, but compared to my Afterneath, there doesn't seem to be much comparison...

Dispite all the other sounds that are in the RM1-N, it seems like it's still capable of sounding like an actual reverb pedal, in a more conservative way.

The Afterneath is its own effect. Awesome and unique in its own way, but maybe not the best choice if you wanna be able to dial in any sort of hall/plate reverb sound. The trippy super short delays can get kinda washy to the point where it's a great chaos generator, but you won't get the sort of homogeneous ambience that you'd expect from a tricked out reverb pedal, like the RM-1N. For me personally, the Afterneath is all I need from a reverb-esque pedal, I just love the fact that there's no way to accidentally sound cheesy or P&W-ish. The lower price and pedalboard friendly size were also sorta a big deal to me.
