I know, but sometimes they do a 25,5" scale, I saw some 535's with 25,5" scale mentioned, I'm not a fan of the Gibson scale either so I've been looking around for non typical Fender scaled guitars as well.

I didn't like 24.75" scale as much until I met a great guitar that came in it. Trying stuff outside your preexisting preferences is always a good way to surprise yourself.

Creston? Kinda Canada...northern Vermont at least. Though likely too pricey.

Just noticed the only Maton dealer in Canada is here in Quebec City.
BB1200, MS2000 and MS500 seems like great guitars with great options like tap coil.

The only problem they have only the acoustics model in stock... electrics are on order only.

Yeah, my first thought would be a vintage: Jazzy, Jag, Gibson 335, Guilds, etc…

Next would be:
Kauer
Rhoney
Nelson
Deimel [firestar for the win]

Yes Maton's are an awesome option. We have discussed Matons before I think. I believe you wont be disappointed in one. Listening to some of your demos I think an MS500 with the single coil neck P/U and coil tapable bridge humbucker P/U would be right up your alley. :thumb:
I ended up switching my stock Maton P/Us out with P90s and using the coil tap switch to switch between 2 different Russian P.I.O caps.

After some search... I think I will save for a Maton MS503-Classic.
Thanks all. :thumb:

That is very nice. I don't think you will be disappointed in that. Maton's are awesome.

Road trip to St Louis - Schnikesy has a Maton doesn't he?

Nelson Instruments wrote:Well I suppose it depends on what you define as short scale. My standard is 24.75" but depending on the model a longer scale could be used.

Also neck width can be changed.
Obviously I'm not mentioning these things to put any pressure on the situation but just offering clarification!
Slight to total derail - Bobby how would you describe the neck profile on the Socialite? All I know is that it's not an ibanez wizard and that it is insanely comfortable.

How about something custom that will be that price or less once shipped to Canada? Check these out:

http://www.acguitars.co.uk/acg_admin/wo ... prototype/

http://www.acguitars.co.uk/acg_admin/wo ... prototype/

http://lanziluthier.com/

The first two come from a guy that just may be the best boutique bass luthier in the world who is now starting to get into guitars. His instruments are ridiculously good, and he's got those prototypes priced at a steal.

The third is a guy who appears to make very cool stuff. I've gotten a quote on one of his basses, and its close to your limit, but I wonder if the guitars might be less.

Just some fun suggestions. :)

a vote for a hagstrom! i just picked up a vintage swede... way too cheap for what it is.. very nicely constructed, basically a les paul copy. it's all mahogany, but if you can get a super swede, i think that has a maple top.

also, the new hagstrom stuff is made in korea (i think?), except for the northen series, which is made in europe (czech republic, i think). still plenty of money left over to spend on pedals :)
