I tend not too pay too much attention to the cultists, but that chorus/vibrato looks fairly garden variety, probably more like a CE-2 with all the standard mod tricks than even a CE-1. (Unless they've picked up the habit of outsourcing all their development now to someone who can actually design a circuit instead of just blatantly ripping off prior art. In which case it could be CE-2 mods adapted to a CE-1 clone.) If I were looking for whose coat tails, I'm guessing their looking to fill the void of the out-of-production Retro Sonic CE-1 clone.

That pedal has a dark, dark history. I've heard from reliable sauces (like, gosh-dang sriracha reliable) that the pedal is actually named after a panther that the JHS pedal guy one in a game of cards on a cruise ship. He totally boned that panther. to. death. Boned it in the butt til it died. True story.
Definitely haven't been smokin' an' a drink'. ''''

I can't help it. I have a really really dirty mind. I'm being medicated for it. I just don't think I'm on the right dosage.
By all means please express yourself. Fuck being PC.
I can go in next week sometime. Maybe they'd give me a discount or show me around. They have a shop that is supposed to have a showroom now. It used to be you could not go in there at all even though they had a standing building with a huge sign that says JHS.

I don't understand why people have to make their faith (no matter the obedience) so blatantly obvious, moreover in their business. It's bound to bring them shit. It's either disrespecting the beliefs by using them as a means of business or a poor business practice as you send the message that it is okay to judge you by your religious standards. And I honestly don't want to think I'm feeding a cult or the republican party when I f-ing buy a pedal, pen, sandwich... /rant

You have to understand the IHOP church to understand why they'd make it so open. IHOP is now international, they didn't used to be, I even met IHOP folks in Israel! They own half the city of Grandview, MO (I'm not joking, they've bought up all the housing, businesses, etc) and the remaining people free of the church want them out. So making it open a great idea because all Evangelical Christians will want to purchase their product for the simple fact that another Christian made it.
They are a cult. End of story. JHS has involvement with them probably from one of their other branches and had them move to Grandview where their hub is. I bet IHOP even own the building JHS is in. It's very odd, very weird, and kind of scary. They are insane people.
It's the only "church" I've ever gone to and asked to leave by a security to guard. In a church...for no reason.

A pancake cult??

Sounds
deliciously evil.
After scanning that ridiculous article above, discounting the pretentious courtroom thing going on, I thought this was an incredibly silly statement.
In my mind, there is no denying the connection that JHS founder Josh Scott’s Christian faith has to level of vitriol directed at him and his company. While I don’t believe it’s true for everyone who dislikes JHS, it’s certainly a factor for many. Nobody brings up the faith or beliefs of other builders who have done or who’ve been accused of doing the same things that JHS is accused of. JHS is “that Christian company”. It’s an unfair, and telling double standard.
Because no other builders bring up their faith? Couldn't tell you what muffin gods bribri or ryan worship and that's the way it ought to be. Also, because if a businessperson puts their faith prominently in their business and then their business activities seem to contradict the beliefs of that faith, it looks worse. It's like if someone started a business largely founded on how they were more honest than their competitors, and they pushed that in all their marketing, and then were exposed doing something dishonest.
It's nothing to do with their religion, it's the perceived hypocrisy. Some people gotta make themselves or their social group martyrs though. I don't know what JHS have actually done and I'm not sure I care, but I do get annoyed when people misrepresent things.

Man, that blog post was way too long. I mean, ok, he wants to have a serious discussion and be thorough, but what many people on the intrawebs seem to misunderstand in these cases is that long = intelligent/thorough. It's easy to write a long piece of text, it's hard to limit yourself and be to the point. So there's that. Also, fewer people will bother to read it.
Anyways, I dislike JHS. Regardless of whether they steal circuits or are a crazy cult, they make "simple" pedals that don't seem to do that many interesting things, and they're pretty expensive for what you actually get soundwise. I don't really care what faith people claim to have, but if you use it as a way to boost sales, I won't buy your stuff. Personal religion is ok with me, organized religion, not so much.

when it comes to faith I'm sure we all assume that Mark at BAT worships the dark lord.
as long as he neither confirms nor denies his religious views then we can continue to worship him as the dark lord and savior we all know and love.

I can barely tolerate people with religious views but I despise the idea of organized religion as a whole, and that's because I had a very fundamentalist religious upbringing that I had to rebel against to be free. So yeah, Fuck religion. But I don't care if a builder is religious. As long as their pedals are good I would buy them. What I hate more is politics that are questionable. The Danelectro guy is someone who should be run down with a motor vehicle. I would never buy one of his gay hating pedals, guitars or even accept one free of charge. So yeah, Fuck Danelectro!
