Buy Flashback Mini. Repaint to preferred Alter Ego color scheme and lettering. Load a PGS Toneprint. Voila--you have an a Alter Ego Mini!

Why do they keep putting out pedals like this?
If tc would putout a pedal with 3 or 4 spaces that you could put any tone print anywhere you wanted they would sell a million on em.
I have not ever played with anything toneprint and I would pick one up in a heartbeat.

good point
but
there's not many other pedals that can do three delays in series or parallel at the same time

For that sort of choice, assuming I need all three at a time, I want far, far more control than what's effectively one preset at a time.
Sure, you get into rack or multifx, but that's the level of control you're going to want/need at that point as well to do more than spit noises.

If they put out a pedal that only did TonePrints, from a marketing perspective it would be really awful. I would imagine there would be an insane decline in the number of pre-loaded pedals, because they would really become obsolete.
It would be cool to see different models that have tone print only abilities though, kind of like the mythical Devi cart type thing. Have a base model with just a single tone print slot, with 3 controls like the minis and the size of the minis (just able to put ANY type of tone print on the pedal, not specific to what the pedal is used for, like the delay only and chorus only that they have now), have a second model the size of the regular HOF or Flashback, with a full rotator full of TonePrint slots, and then one x4 sized, but blank, so you could use it like a multieffect. But really that would make all of their other specific devices obsolete.

The aesthetic of this one is a lot nicer than the x4.
That being said, I actually really like the looper on the x4. Are you telling me I should buy one of these for multiple delays and use my x4 as a dedicated looper? Is that what you're trying to tell me TC?
If TC smashed the Ditto x2 and the Flashback x4 Looper together and allowed you to save loops they'd have hands down one of the best loopers around. Half time, reverse, etc and the play once feature would be so dominant. I'd have that and the Flashback Triple Delay and I'd be happier than a pig in shit, boys.

Someone will do this though and make a bunch of shit obsolete.
Line 6 sort of did it with the m series.
TC is just in a good position to make all these pedals obsolete and that would be a good thing for musicians.
Eventide is making there factor pedals obsolete and I can see a day where they have a multi FX pedal that could dominate!
It comes down to who will do it first and make everyone else catch up.

The day of the good multifx is pretty much here - adjustable who/what/where in the chain, parallel processing, decent amp sims, external and moveable fx loop in the multi, etc.
They're even (relatively) easy to program, especially with computer/phone/whatever interfaces.

Would be awesome if they took the plunge and made a multi effect unit. You're right about Line 6 and Eventide, it didn't even dawn on me.

Should add that TC's reticence to do some of it is to not kill sales of their higher end stuff, which, well, it needs to step up its game there.
Eventide hasn't hurt its rack or plugin sales with the pedals at all - they'v exposed themselves to players who wouldn't have ever touched Eventide *anything* because they're not a shredder in 1989.

I love the 4x so much. But if they mushed the ditto into it and added a half speed and reverse that would be killer.
Can you get the Space Echo and the DMM toneprints?
That's all I want for my flashback!!!

And I don't think any pedal they come up with will hurt the Rack or plugin sales.
The H8000fw is on another plain.
Im sure that the H9 has cut into their Factor pedal sales, but with the sale of Algorithms Im sure they are A-OK with that.
