You're right, if you don't need a booster, I can't figure how you could have some interest in it. But despite other boosters, il preserves the tone untouched, only emphatizing lows and highs like the L.A.L Thunder Boxx. Maybe it hasn't the same frequencies of the Lastgasp boosted, but I found it very versatile and afforbable. Try it after an Openhaus or a Fuzzrocious The Demon, and you'll get one of the massive dist you've ever heard.
In fact, even if it's studied as a clean boost, I found the way it pushes an overdriven amp verysimilar to the way the Boxidizer does: same high harmonics, same rumbling lows.
