Thanks man, it's going to be a bit of a long term project as the weather's starting to go bad for spray-painting, but I'll be updating the thread as and when things get done!

So I totally just found out this exists;

It's a combined bridge and tailpiece called the Baby Grand Bridge, which I reckon looks really snazzy!
Anyone have any experience with Hipshot products? I think this would look super sexy on the jagmaster!

That's rad. You'd have to drill the post holes though, would that work with the body?

Yeah it should be okay I would have thought, it's got a modern trem with two posts in it already.
The current plan of action is this;
-Sand body down completely
-Get the neck, fit it along with strings, adjust intonation and get it perfect
-Take measurements of saddle positions and mark on the body
-Strip it back down, including removal of old posts
-Fill in all the required cavities and holes and such
-Drill the new holes required
-paint and assemble and wire and so forth
At the moment, I can see no reason why it shouldn't work.
Here's someone who installed this bridge on a Squier VM Jaguar

So, a little bit of an update in terms of planning.
First and foremost, I think I've found my neck:
Starcaster maple neck on ebay UKSeems like a decent quality neck, and it's about in the price range that I want to go for.
Additionally, I've decided I'm going to buy a plain pickguard sheet, cut it to shape & size, and paint it light blue to go with a glossy bright orange body.
When this painting will take place, I don't know. Probably not any time soon due to the weather. However, what this does mean is that I can get on with the electrics, filling in cavities, etc so that's a bonus. Plus if I spread it out over time, the costs involved don't seem quite as dramatic
