I can't remember where, but I've seen someone speak well of one of the Gorillas in the last couple years. Think the dude was serious.

Vox Pathfinder 15s are discontinued and already have some catchet. Those will take off some day. Need more so I can fund my retirement.

Was he sure he had speakers in them and not gassy cats?
I never thought of that! He did live on farm, and there was a lot of cats... :erm:

I'd also go with the Vox Pathfinder.

I'd tell you to get a matching bolt-on Hondo II to go with it...but....there's no irony there left.

My first rig was an amazingly crappy Hondo P-bass and a Gorilla amp.

my first "stereo" rig was a peavy rage and a gorilla. i was stoked. i was a young kid with a peavy, my brother made an attempt to start playing bass, which went nowhere, but he had a kramer bass and a gorilla practice amp. i commandeered the gorilla when he lost interest in playing and found some way to split the signal and played through both. with a metal zone. at the time i must say it was awesome. i was on this path from the beginning i guess.

Somewhat related question - are Hondo IIs really that bad? There is one hanging from the wall in a local shop that can be had for a song and I thought it might be a good way to add some Les Paul to my mostly Fendery guitar collection (note: none of them are actually Fenders).

I feel like Pathfinders had a pretty big following a few years back. Makes sense that people would eventually remember and covet them.

More hipster than a Pignose?

I didn't realize there was anything hipster about a pignose?

I had a tiny Gorilla combo as my very first 'amp'. If you can even call it that

I actually love my bass pathfinder that I use for my guitar with the headphone out connected straight into my peavey PA. It sounds mad clear and lush, I'm actually thinking of taking the preamp out of it and try to place it on a new pedal board so I can just gig with my pedal board.

Hipsters generally just use Twin Reverb amps and things of that nature, I think.

Hipsters use organic amps that use tubes you've never even heard of.
