I never found them "dark" I felt they had a really flat response, but it was in a ported Emperor 2x12 so I'm not sure how that would effect the frequency response in comparison to a sealed 2x12.

I was going to get a v30 for my 6505+ combo, but did not want to pay for it. Got a Veteran 30 for it instead, and am happy with the sound vs what I heard from clips of a 6505 and v30. Similar, and way cheaper (and much better than the Sheffield 1200)
