Pretty much. And I'm much better capable of using it now - track count is more than tripled, no more cleaning heads and dealing with stupid recording costs (ok, I clean the heads on the Space Echo still, but that's a labor of love), and I'm not trying to figure ways to make money at weird music without becoming a self-parody.

I would love a space echo but the maintenance costs and reliability factor is putting me off. Do you know of a pedal that can cop the sounds reasonably well? Or even a decent vst plugin would do. I don't play out so I'm trying to get a decent project studio happening.

Maintenance isn't godawful if you get one in good repair, same with reliability, but I'm speaking as a guy who learned to repair them when commercial service or tape wasn't available.

For "reasonably well" on the sound, the Boss RE-20 is VERY VERY VERY close for all but the extreme sounds, including the preamp you can't shut off (I love it but for studio use I could definitely see bussing it). I'd bring one if I was physically capable of gigging over the real box most likely. It's also in a lot of respects more usable (longer delay time, tap tempo, etc).

I can also get very close sound-wise with a Quadraverb+ (taps are adjustable for time/mix/feedback in ways that most delays aren't).
