Huge FZ-2 fan here. It kicked quite a few booteek peds of my board. I'll take an FZ-2 over any 'real' superfuzz replica, and as far as cutting through a mix, it beats all the fuzz face or muff variants I tried so far. The behringer clone is supposedly close enough, and a used one wil costs you less than a good steak diner.

If I had to go with something else that's cheap, but more velcro/glitchy sounding: Zoom UF-1.

I tried the French Toast into the Behringer Muff and it fit the requirements. Now I just need my FZ-2 back from a friend and I'll be all set!
