Great illustrations
Everything but The Grails (for which FOXX is a great complimentary suggestion) can be nailed with a good 60s Tonebender variation.
Especially the Petty/Page. That Page tone largely comes from a VOX amp that had transistor gain stages in the pre-amp and kt88 power tube output stage. Basically a tweaked Vox Tonebender, if I'm not mistaken both shared the 2 transistor design.
Something along these lines.

They're my personal favorite Benders...the Italians 1.5 and II...but in the interest of full disclosure I prefer a well tuned germanium Fuzz Face to any Bender.
That's also why I've decided to part with my own 1.5....currently listed in the BST...for now.
Gear fickle me

Didn't someone just put out a Maestro or something that's a Boss Tone clone?

the ehx satisfaction is allegedly a boss tone, despite the name.

oh also the Voodoo Lab Super Fuzz, which I think is a Boss Tone with a bass and midrange knob.
What is up with companies naming their boss tone clones after unrelated pedals

I think ehx put out the Satisfaction, which alludes to the maestro fz-1 but is actually a boss tone?
Mahoney puts out a really nice replicas of the original boss tone plug in boxes....the cal tone is raw as it gets.

That's the one I was thinking of -- the Satisfaction. We had a thread on it where it was revealed to be a Boss Tone.

fangs for the fuzz love
still loving the bosstone and demo tape
wonder if the demo tape could cover the bosstone on some settings?
but the CAF fuzz sounds like so much WIN.
and attached to the FY2 sounds because of it's Orpheum lineage.
the gnomerton looks cool but holy hell the switches!
and yeah was eyeballing the mahoney stuff, but somehow I like at least 3-4 knobs on a fuzz
does that make me weird?

on the replicas that plug directly into your instrument there is only a volume dial. So worth it for that tone. The cal tone is based on the earliest version as far as I understand, I've got the boss tone and cal tone and the cal has a rawer more interesting buzz to it.

know I'm overthinking this, just don't have access to to much right now besides the internets
should I just get an FY2 for now until others come up?
there's a cool smitty FY2 clone up for grabs with some useable mods
still loving the hell out of the CAF but it's a tough bugger to find a clone even
the bosstone is definitely tits
once I actually play more fuzzes it'll all make sense
always been more a distortion or loaded amp guy until lately

Woah, I missed the "plug it directly into your guitar" bit. So, that basically means I can have another fuzz without making room on my board? For $75? Oh lawd.
I get the wanting to have more knobs thing, but really, the Mahoney Buzztone is amazing. I bought one for my bro, and have been playing around with it quite a bit when we hang out. You can harness loads of toanz by using the volume and tone on your guitar.
