Re: Hardwire RV-7 Reverse Reverb Function Question
I play two RV-7's in stereo to four amps and I keep them on the reverse setting. I like the way it sounds, obviously! I liked the Digiverb for years but the RV-7 is true stereo unlike just about every reverse reverb pedal out there and I've tried a lot of them.

Re: Hardwire RV-7 Reverse Reverb Function Question
I love mine. 100% wet doesn't bother me.
I keep it in the loop of my superego, and it rocks.
Also, if you put it between two modulated delays (preferably darker delays) it makes for some amazing ambience.
I totally understand your disappointment, but the pedal works great for my needs.

Re: Hardwire RV-7 Reverse Reverb Function Question
(Hey first post here !!!)
Try the gated preset and dial to taste. To me it makes a very good MBV impersonation since the original SPX90's preset they used back in the days was the "early reflection" which is some sort of gated reverb.
To me it works better than a typical revers reverb (less sketchy)

Re: Hardwire RV-7 Reverse Reverb Function Question
I jsut want to chime in and say the Digiverb's gated mode is the best gat damn verb ever for the MBV style shoegaze. It has a reverse mode, which is cool... but gated is where its at if you want dat Kevin Shields vibe.

Yep, that pretty much + Yamaha units (GEP, SPX, FX)julius_deane wrote:You guys need to quit picking on the best reverse reverb ever made just because you don't know how to use it.

Re: Hardwire RV-7 Reverse Reverb Function Question
Yep. Midiverb2 goes 100% wet if you want, or anything in between, and goes grainy abusive too.
It's also as "easy" as any rack unit can be - it's discrete presets that range from wacky to useful to 'I AM A CAVE OF DOOMS'
Also very, very, very cheap (I paid $30 for mine) and will get you instant fun.
If you want to dig through options and programming (it's old and boring and nasty menu-driven LCD) and love 90s Ministry or NIN when they were decent, the ART SGEs are very fun for the reverb alone - the grainy, chewy "Plate" is a cornerstone of fun nasty.
In a pedal, the Hardware looks dead solid though. Hell, if one passed my path cheap enough I'd buy it just to set on permanent reverse and call it good.

Re: Hardwire RV-7 Reverse Reverb Function Question
I was going to get a Digiverb, but it seems like from demos it has that problem some other reverbs of the time (RV3) have of cutting volume when over 50% wet.

Re: Hardwire RV-7 Reverse Reverb Function Question
It does if you run it straight into a clean amp. It is mostly on the reverse setting, gated it is a very slight drop, the other I haven't noticed a volume drop. However, Once I started using a preamp again, this problem disappeared. And if you're using verb primarily with dirt before or after, its not an issue either.julius_deane wrote:I was going to get a Digiverb, but it seems like from demos it has that problem some other reverbs of the time (RV3) have of cutting volume when over 50% wet.
For $40 used, I have zero complaints and use it just as much as my Hardwire Supernatural. The gated mode is essentially a "No More Sorry" setting.

That's why the RV-7 is great. You don't have volume loss with it.

Re: Hardwire RV-7 Reverse Reverb Function Question
I'm not with my gear so I can't test it, but in my head I'm thinking that you could just use a mixer pedal to get some dry signal with your reverse 'verb, couldn't you? I have a Dreadbox Cocktail that's just a basic mixer pedal with a loop in it. If the reverse reverb is 100% wet, I could just put that fucker in the loop of the Cocktail, couldn't I?

Re: Hardwire RV-7 Reverse Reverb Function Question
I guess you could get a Magicstomp and be the only person to A) not set the mix 100% wet for early reflections and reverse gate and B) not suffer volume drop. Still worth it at 100% wet.
