Don't avoid too many pedals.....besides some of the TGP stuff......Tim, Timmy, WET, KoT.
For amps, I've mostly avoided Marshalls. (owned a Jubilee combo....well, flipped it anyway)
Mono WET is sweet in the right spot!
A shredding germanium after it on 90% wet...oof
Guess it depends how you like to use stuff like that though

Does amp modeling count?

Don't discount Analogman because of the hype. I had a KoT on an almost irrationally noise based board…[who doesn't need two ring mods and a geiger counter?***] and it was pretty essential to that signal. It really depends on guitar. Lately I've been playing single coils like mad, [actually that is my thing I avoided, now I love]. With the single coils I don't use the KoT, but for a Les Paul with humbuckers, KoT is pretty great.
***Ring Mods might be my opposite experience. I loved mine for a while, expression pedals with them, etc…I don't remember the last time I used one…

Like MonkeyD, I used to hate reverb.
Then I got a trinity....and soon there's gonna be an afterneath.

Volume pedals. For fade in and fade outs, swells and most importantly; adjusting the amount of volume that goes into teh fuzz pedals without having to stop playing.
Compressors. For finger droning, insanse sustain and ambient sounding riffs/soundscaping.

It should.
I used it as needed but didn't love it until my GR-55, where some of the models are ready for prime time.
Then came the Mustang and the GT-001/100 and....good god, I could live without ever turning on an amp again.

Nah, I'm sure all the klones, dumloids, Tims, KoT, etc.....are fine pedals........I wasn't bashing them........mostly the price of those pedals keeps me away.....and my lack of need for more dirt pedals....especially transparent OD, and low to mid gain bluz tonez (kidding, I NEED BLUEZ TONEZ).

Fuzz Face (Germanium specifically): I thought you needed a hot & cooking Marshall for it to sound good. I thought it wouldn't have any bottom end.
Uni Vibe: I thought you could "do that" with IC-based chorus/vibrato pedals.
Reverb pedals in general: I was an "I'd rather use the long-tank in my Fender amp" guy. Then I heard how reverb > delay can sound.
I was so very, very mistaken in all cases.
Sometimes I'm a real dumb ass...but at least now I have the wisdom to challenge uninformed/misinformed gear opinions.

Samesies, I loved ring mods from the get go, but nowadays I can't seem to do anything interesting with them. Maybe the thrill is gone

I think mine is probably wahs. I'm scared to try. My only wah was like my third pedal and didn't last long
