Man such good info from the peeps. thank you all.
After thinking about it long and hard, and doing tons of research (read: built two pedals, played frisbee, got wasted at my buddy's house and watched the lego movie) i believe the amp I'm after is... teh Fender Blues Deluxe. 40 wats, 2x6L6, 1x12 no frills. probably swap the speaker or use an extension cab. used for around 500-600 or maybe even splurge new at 769.
I like the idea of another traynor but to me that kinda feels like putting the working TV on top of the broken TV. one day soon i will get it re-capped and I do recommend it to anyone else looking for a sweet amp in this price/power range.
The AC15C2 is a close second. very close. But I believe that amp really shines cranked up with both speakers live, and this is mostly going to be for recording. Plus, used AC15 1x12's are cheap all day used so if I see one, i'll grab it.

There you go then. I always forget they reissued them- the original BD was the first new production Fender tube amp after the Schultz era to hold *any* interest for me.
