Have you ever tried to build a pedal in that size enclosure and top mount the jacks? I have, and I'll tell you that if you want true bypass with an LED and top mounted jacks, it's not going to fit just the jacks + 3pdt and dc jack, let alone the PCB. Kudos to Henretta for stuffing full circuits in there. Most people that I've seen use that size enclosure just put buffers in them cause they are such a challenging size to do anything useful with.

I'm not a builder. I've never built a pedal in my life.

The elimination of external controls means there's more flexibility about where things can go inside.
The small impact it has on pedal board real estate is one of the Henretta concept's key selling points (regardless of whether or not indended by the builder). Buyers who like the minimal and simplified approach, will probably appeciate a compact pedalboard.
Therefore, I think it would better for the Henretta to have top mounted jacks, even if that means a slightly higher enclosure if necessary to accommodate the jacks there. I think most people would prefer it that way as, realistically, most are gonna be combining Henrettas with pedals they already own of more orthodox enclosure dimensions.
Just my opinion.

Why are there quotes around the word "Henretta" in the thread title?

And I completely understand where you are coming from, I'm just letting saying that in that prefabricated sized enclosure that it's not really possible to stuff anything in there, knobs or no knobs. Yeah, if they got an enclosure custom made it night be an option, but not in that commonly available enclosure size which Hammond and other manufacturers are making right now without going custom.

.
Here's a very good compact design imo (in terms of dimensions and layout): Guyatone's old micro series.
Including the flange at the bottom, they were: 2.75"W x 3.875"L, and included space for a 9v battery (which could be eliminated). And they could have external knobs despite top mounted jacks. (Henrettas are 2" x 2".)

i think you're kinda missing the point. those guyatone pedals are cool but you can't place two of them vertically in the space of a normal enclosure. nor can you fit one comfortably on the odd tier on a pedaltrain pro, for example.
the builder's intention is different in these cases. Henretta's approach is just catering to people with different needs or interests to you. there is more than one approach to space-saving.
also if a company the size of Henretta was making pedals with custom fabricated enclosures like above, they would be a LOT more than $125.

And Red Witch's 'seven sisters' series' enclosures have very nice dimensions and general layout too:
(yeah, I know they have a rechargeable thing going on)
3.5" x 2.2" x 2.5"
Red Witch isn't a very big operation. These are custom enclosures and perfectly affordable.
(p.s. 'Eve' is cute and sexy)

Red witches are also custom enclosures, and pcbs are entirely SMD afaik. I have a Henretta dual pedal and the pcbs and layouts are beautiful. With the spacing of the screws on those enclosures top mounted jacks are impossible, even if Kevin went the prestuffed smd route. In terms of a one man operation doing a wide variety of circuits in a very small format Henretta is in a league of their own.

Well then you are even less qualified to make this thread than I thought. If you're a "sales" person you're certainly not going to earn them here if you're openly bashing a builder. This thread is pointless and insulting. This could have asked in an email.
I'm not trying to be a dick but people need to chill the fuck out on builders sometimes. They do their best.

I wonder how the tremolo would sound on bass, This would be really useful to pack on some small stuff that I won't use often but want anyways.

I'm not a builder, so what? I have had many different makes and kinds of pedals through my hands over the years - and seen inside them. So I think I know enough about the layout and features of a pedal that are desirble to me as user and buyer. That qualifies me to have an opinion.
I wasn't bashing a builder, I was expressing an opinion on a style of pedal design and concept.
I wasn't asking a question, I was expressing an opinion.
Or am I not allowed to express my opinion? This is a forum, is it not?

Firmly grasp the pedal and rotate it 90 degrees.
You now have one top mounted jack and one bottom mounted jack.
Might even be better that top mount in some cases!
Is this mod reversible? I don't want to damage the resale value of my pedal. Thanks.
Well, I can't answer that, honestly.
I'm no pedal builder.
But, if I had to wager a guess...
...probably.
