Anyway, I don't think I've yet come across an amp that doesn't take pedals well. Some make my peds sound different than others, some do better with fuzz, others better with od, etc...It usually just takes a little tweaking to get everything sound decent:idk:
I guess generally speakin the more clean headroom the better though, amps with lots of color and grit tend to get funny with some fuzz and delay peds...

Amps I'm talking about: '70s Orange OD120, SF Vibrolux reverb, '65 BF bassman head, USA Blues Jr, Fender Tonemaster, SF 100w Twin reverb, Deluxe Reverb RI, AC30C2x, AC15C2, '72 Marshall Superbass, Marshall 25/50 SJ, Marshall 2204 (different ones, different models/versions/dates, both jmp as well as jcm)...And I'm probably forgetting a couple.

I actually think mine was an HD-150 (it's been awhile). I know that the Vibrato was really more like a Phaser (think Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Call Me the Breeze." The buddy that gave it to me ended up having a fire in his home, so I guess that amp was just destined to go up in flames. Somewhere I do still have the four original Sylvania 6L6's that came out of it. I think Tom Morello used one on the RATM track "Revolver." Great amp, wish I still had it.

None of my amps have effect loops so no choice but going into the front end. The 2204 is picky about what goes into the high sensitivity input, but it becomes a total pedal machine plugging into the low input.

I recently got into a couple of 100 waters (Super Bass and Super Lead) for the extra headroom. Either one of these should do well with pedz, especially the Super Bass. Reverb seems like it's gonna be the trickiest thing.

Good to know about the Verellens, especially the 50 water......something I've thought about looking into. No one has mentioned a Hi-Watt yet. My guess is that the headroom on those would make it great with pedz.

I really dig my ampeg GVT15h for bedroom doom with pedals. The baxandall tone control with active mids is awesome for dialing in fuzz.

Yeah, the 50w Verellen is just a beast, but it was built to be clean until cranked. It's got a Fender Champ preamp, so just a single 12ax7 and not a whole lot of gain unless you're on about 8-10 on the dial, or have the preamp boost engaged.

The Spaldo that I have is rated at something like 18w, it's ridiculously loud for 18w, barely able to use it in the apartment, but it stays clean until about 5 on the dial. Not quite as clean there, and you can push it relatively easy with a clean boost

As far as Hiwatts go, I've only played one, but it seems like it would have been a good pedal platform at 50w.
