I'm surprised the Industrialelectric stuff hasn't been mentioned yet. Seems like literal noise-in-a-box.

Back before Red Panda built the Particle and the Context, they offered a humble little module for the Line6 Tonecore docking system...

And one I mighta had something to do with...

There's a standalone bitcrusher in development from these guys, but obviously they've got a lot on their plate with just the Particle and Context. Still, I'm looking forward to the day when I can crush bits without the big Tonecore dock & format...

My Behringer bass synth pedal will occasionally produce tones. Sadly, not with any warning.
I was able to coax some very stable tones out of an old Devi Ever VFM with a starve.

Alesis Bitrman, if you can find one. Totally under rated.

You could also use an old multi fx unit through a feedback loop. I use a Korg ax1000g and get all sorts of crazy noise from that depending what patch I'm using. Phaser and long delay creates some cool noise. You can pick up old multi fx units fairly cheap these days.

Go for broke. FM4 into Pitchfactor, with expression pedals for both.

D'oh! Right. Totally AB-Synth. Also the Thujone Extract, which is based on the ABs oscillation side, with a bunch of rhythmic/pitch oscillation weirdness thrown in to boot. I think Tom is building them as standalone units to order, and maybe as one side of certain AB-synths. I made a bass "demo":

UglyCasanova made a guitar demo (no quotes, cuz he's the real deal):
