The classic thrash sound is one guitar with ridiculous scoop for 'dem heavies, and one guitar with a tubescreamer to bring the mids. Entombed, Dismember, Slayer, etc.

I used to run one amp scooped to hell, and the other one with more flat eq. Could have used way more midrange from the 2nd amp when I listen to old recordings.

I approve of the thread title change as it is the start of ice cream eatin' season here in the Northern Hemisphere.

Last year some ice cream place in NYC was using really good coffee in their coffee ice cream. I missed it, hopefully I'll get some this summer.

HM-2 cranked is such a mountain of mids. Two big peaks at around 900 and 1300 Hz.

Mids are weird, I think everyone hears them differently. I know folks have complained about the mids not doing much on the Elements, but it does +/- 25 dB.

I made my own cookie dough ice cream last week. Gonna make some more tomorrow.

The best "mid scoop" is used in reference to the middle flavor in a triple scoop waffle cone.
If you're going the neopolitan route, the cone should get stuffed with chocolate, vanilla, strawberry.

Personally I go for the Devin Townsend method of "get rid of all the bass and treble and then sculpt what's left to your liking."

My amp is a Bugera 1960 (super lead clone) , and I usually set my knobs at: Presence: 7, Treble: 3, Mids: 10, Bass: 5

The fun thing about the super lead circuit is that mids at 10 basically just gives you a flat mid response

Yeah, when I first got it out of the box and tried it out, I just kept turning the mids knob up until it sounded good, and it turns out that 10 is when I was happy. I found out later that the super lead scoops on all settings other than max. But I totally love the sound I've settled on, non-master amps 4 lyfe!!

One fun trick with fuzzes like that is to run them through small, darker amps.
