I usually just use a single 4x12 at a show but I would prefer to have stuff stacked like I do in the practice space. That way the sound is shooting right at my head and I can hear what I am doing clearer.

To be honest i prefer the method called The Pile, cabs on top of each other, cabs beside each other, cabs over here, cabs over there etc...

That's pretty much what I did at Dragunov's 2nd show. maybe not a pile more like a wall. the bottom layer was 2 Kustom 215s with a Fender Bassman 215 inbetween. An Orange CR120 on the fender bassman. then on top of that was a Kustom column 412 with an Ampeg SS140c on top of that and then to the side of the Ampeg a Sunn Alpha R 212 combo.

I was actually toying around with the "stacked or side by side" idea today...
I might go the side-by-side direction to save my eardrums a little...

Of course it's just another thing for me to be indecisive about...

last show I played I went side by side cause I could expand out. I think I'm going to stack this time.

The fest we played yesterday was great because the stage was huge and we could spread out the cabs to our hearts content. I was also able to be about 10 feet in front of them. We ran a 2x15, 2-2x12s, 4x12, 2x10/4/12fh, and an 8x10. Sounded killer where I was standing.

I like satcking
but depending on the situation,
side by side is the quickest way to load off the stage
stacked is the best way to deal with a crowded stage.
At the practice space I do stacked side by side.

Since starting this thread I've acquired a 6x10 to pair with my 4x12 so I HAVE to go side by side unless I want some real precarious shit to go down.

I suppose I could lay the 6x10 on its side and put the 4x12 on top but idk.

I wouldn't. I would go side by side, I ended up staying side by side last night.

612, 412,412, 415. drummer set up infront of the 2 412's and i was a good 10 feet infront of my amps and it still was pushing air to me. it was great. only used an Ampeg SS150 and a Ampeg SS140 to power it all.

I'll post some pictures that were taken last night. I have to yank them off facebook. everything I took... pics and video is on my camera back home in MS. I had only an hour of sleep before I had to go get up and head up to North Carolina. :(

also yes just me and a drummer playing some power violence/grind.

love you too odontophobia.

also note the 2 412 cabs have no casters cause I planned on finishing the bottom matching cabs before I started using them gigging. My drummer asked why I don't put some casters on them, I said I'll solve the problem by trading them out for another 612 and 415 instead. >:)

Oh also we were the fastest to set up and break down. when we stopped we had everything off stage in 5-6 minutes. More bands need to learn how to do that instead of sitting there and breaking everything down on stage eating up more time.
