I'll join in with the Foxx Tone Machine love. The fuzz on its own is nothing special (lacks a little character) but it stacks well with other dirt and the octave is as good as it gets, especially on the neck pup.

Is that important?
I did hear no lag that disturbed me and the tracking is fine. Really liked that one (my Bassist lend me his).

Octave up fuzz is my favorite fuzz generally, but I'm a boring traditionalist in that realm - give me a Blender and a Scrambler and bunch of echo to sail them by.

Octave-type effects, give me a VG-99 or a GR-55 or something from Eventide.

I went the GR-55 route and I'm damn happy.

Some interesting responses, thanks.

Yeah, I'm not always crazy about octave up. Usually much prefer the octave down. Sometimes a weak/subtle octave up sounds really nice.

And then, of course, there's the Green Ringer. Which I love.

Good question. Yeah there's the lag thing, but I also like the small artefacts you often get with analogue solutions. I also think digital is getting so good it's almost too good. it's kinda fun to see how far analogue can be pushed.

Then there's the traditionalist/survivalist in me - if it breaks I have a chance of fixing analogue. Digital - nope.

So aaaah, it's not actually important :)

I have 3 octave type effects on my board. My favorite octave down is pretty much always the EHX Octave Multiplexer. I've played the POG, POG2, MicroPOG, Octron, Blue Box, Boss OC2 and OC3, and I always come back to the OM. I also have a green ringer clone which I use for adding an octave up to whatever dirt I want. And then there's the whammy.

I have lately been wanting to get another MicroPOG, tho.

As far as I know they're both analog.
The Octamizer is the heaviest regular octave down I played so far, put it after your main drive and you don't know what's happening...
The OctaBass used to be bassists #1 choice, before the Octamizer, from wat I understood from Robin the OctaBass sounds a bit like a bass if you play it on guitar, the Octamizer gets both synthier and heavier than that...
