just boost it with something - distortion +, rat, mini, etc. That's what I always did.

Well.... I've got to say this has Blue Box similarities - does that octave down thing when you turn the knob, and go to neck pickup. Lots of volume, and extras. http://www.raingerfx.com/dwarf.html
Just sayin'...

BB is the only octave down pedal I have (and I have a ton of up) - there's something magical about the terrible lack of control.
I'd probably just stick with what you're used to - get another, clip the resistor, call it good - even if it only lasts a couple years, it's a $60 pedal.

From what I understand the Blue Box does 2 octave down fuzz.
There's two pedals I really dig that do that too, the Copilot Mantis and the MI Audio Pollyanna so I'd recommend those, they're both massively heavy and synthy.

It's two octave down plus an odd blend and peculiar tracking/mix - if I had to keep one fuzzbox for 'standard dude' duties it'd probably be the Bluebox.

Fuck you guys, now I want a blue box.
Hey wait...They're cheap, easily avaible, small...And I could totally justify it since I'm about to sell a couple of my current fuzz peds

Is the newest $50-$70 version worse in any way than an old one?

Don't think so, I'm using a 2-3 year old one as my main one (have an old one kicking around in the box of stuffs that didn't sound any better).

You know what makes the volume drop go away? Stacking it with other stuff.

Yeah, I'm gonna try it soon, I liked it in your video but also saw another and it didn't seem to sound heavy enough there for my tastes.
As I'm not completely sure now I was gonna wait till after I tried it to say something about it.

I had a Bluebox and this little beast:
Side by side there were a few tonal differences, but the Guyatone could do +1 and +2 octave down and covered a lot of ground. That thing was awesome. If I ever see another for cheap I'd grab it again for my noise board.
Currently, I'm using an Octron and pairing it with different fuzz for all my Bluebox needs.

Bumped into this thread, and a couple seconds later I'm about to seal the deal on a Blue Box
It's a classic, it's small, cheapish, and doesn't have a ton of controls or gizmos, and it's notoriously unpredictable...How am I supposed to resist that???
