TAPE = MBV TONEZZZ...

Everyone said that right stuff... If you get some old tape with Kenny Loggins or REO Speadwagon or something and fill the holes on top and record over them you can get some good bleed which might enhance the Lo-Fi-ness or something... I like to get old educational tapes and record stuff like 50 times before I keep a take... Shitty Radio Shack mics and recording in the red all the time produces good results too... Tape is tape and most of the stuff you've ever heard before the '00s was probably recorded on tape so Lo-Fi is not necessarily inherent to the medium but rather the method...

Maybe hack an old phone or play through a jambox or VCR to get real Lo-Fi...

If you're using a DAW with tape make sure you always zero out the counter to make sure that you are lining up the takes, they used to use tape sync which was a separate track with time code to line up the tracks...
