I'm generally not a fan of ss amps, but having said that, I DO LOVE the Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus combo. I used one a few times in band rehearsals and it is both LOUD and and amazing tones. Took pedals very well too, which meant my dirt sounds didn't suck. They're still really popular, but they go for a fucking fortune now

Beat me to it. Slap a pair of EV 12"s in there and you've got some serious clean headroom. Double plus good.
They are expensive tho, but as much so as a marshall tube combo. SS amps can work very well in certain situations.

It was broken before I had the chance to play it, but I'm planning on getting it fixed soon! I don't know much about bass amps in general, but I'm hoping for awesome-ness.

Got to be tube amps, no question.
The only solid state amp I've ever played that I thought was really cool was a Polytone - loud, light and great for jazz (not as much for rock).
