Chances are they wrote him a large check and he enjoyed it, and had what he wanted built to his specs.
If that applied to me, I'd play Peavey.
If I could pretend the logo didn't exist!
Those are just my summations from playing them in the 90s here whenever they got recommended to me. I stopped trying after a while.

I seem to recall an Iommi interview where he claimed Sabbath made Laney just as much as Laney made Sabbath.
Occasionally a relationship like that hapens.
I guess I'm more toward the Rhoads side of British but that may be my upbringing as I dig my Goldtone and my Bassman and my Roadking. but still itch for "british"...so maybe I'm itching "marshall" since my faux AC30 isn't satisfying???
more general thoughts welcome. the more insight I can get the better my options will become.

I'm pretty sure Sabbath used Laneys explicitly because they couldn't afford Marshalls.

I just think with two classics like the Klipp and the AOR series Laney deserves some credit. Their 90s/2000s output was great as well, as long as you didn't buy their cheapo stuff. VC series, GH, VH... They're all way better than what Marshall was putting out during that time.
