Surprised no one has said Mountain King Megalith yet! Hell-heavy synthy doom fuzz. Meathead dark is a worthy raw bass fuzz.

I get to try a blower box in a couple weeks.

Out of all the pedal builders I know of, I want to try out some Mountainking stuff more than anything else. Sort of impossible though haha.

I know its terrible, but I use a BOSS Metal Zone for Bass. When recording, I'll record a parallel clean signal and that makes it work some. for a more "live" situation it makes the bass sound too guitary for my taste.

+1 to the already mentioned TAFM, Tone Machine, & The Elements
and I add the Frazz Dazzler, Mountainking Behemoth II, and DOD Death Metal

TAFM is amazing. Best fuzz I've tried, and I also love it run at low gain as well - when used this way, it sounds better than most other pedals intended to be low gain. Very flexible pedal. If you can only get one, this would be my suggested pick. Covers so much range, and sounds so damn good.

If you only want a little bit of dirt, I love the W&C Phat Phuk B, especially with an external bias mod done. However, my favourite low gain pedal for bass is probably the Barbershop. Sooooooo good.

I loved the sound of the OCD when I had one, but there was too much low end loss for my liking. Never tried a Demon, but have heard that they do a better job with the low end.

I'm big into octave fuzz on bass. Superfuzzes were all I'd use for a while, really trashy nasty sound on bass. Now I've discovered the scrambler, which has a really synthy attack and thick octave effect.

And damn, y'all are making want another TAFM

So I got my TAFM in today. Believe the hype! Its really two fuzzes in one. I have it set to fairly low gain, but when you hit the gate switch, it cranks the fuzz too, so I have low-medium gain and a big high gain gated fuzz in one box! My current dirt chain is TAFM>Diabolik>Mini>SSStampede.

TAFM for versatile mean fuzz
Diabolik for a cutting distortion tone
Mini for my chunky OD
SSStampede for voltage starved nasty fuzz. Sounds great stacked with the Mini. Really, they all do. My mini is on about 90% of the time.

Oh, and I run it all into a Rusty Box.

I still want to get one more dirt, but I don't know what. Unpleasant surprise? Dungeon Master? Something from Mountainking? Maybe BAT? Don't know what kind of fuzz I even want. If anyone has any suggestions that would compliment my current dirt, lemme know.

Seriously, the Rusty Box has been the best money I've ever spent on a pedal. The rest of those listed are all really great and have their uses; the only one's I've sold off are the TAFM and ECT. I would say the TAFM is a really great place to start, very useful and versatile. One of these days I'll get around to trying a superfuzz on bass.

If you can find a boss odb3 for cheap that's a fun bass dirt. It doesn't always sound the best on its own, but it sits real nice in a band mix and doubles as an amazing guitar distortion
