Noise music is about experimenting and cutting your own path, sometimes a nice delay is important, sometimes covering your strings in duck tape and hitting them with a stick is.

I haven't been using much guitar on my the music I've been making in this style. Maybe I should. I know it would help keep the songs short!

Usually when people refer to noise-pop they mean bands like JAMC, Henry's Dress, Black Tambourine, Vivian Girls, etc, which would essentially require reverb and fuzz. The kind of music Dan Deacon and Animal Collective produce would require a more wide array of devices: samplers, synths, laptops, controllers along with more traditional instruments.
