i just realized that i must have kind of glossed over SLK's post. he already said everything i did. i was already caught up in my head about what i was going to say by the time i read it and wasn't paying much attention apparently. anyway, apologies for the redundancy.

I worked as sort of a booking agent for a while. Only for one place though. I was more I guess the manager of the live music program or whatever you want to call it. Primarily local jazz acts although occasionally touring groups.

So long as the person you're talking to is really into music I think it should be a good experience. So long as it isn't just a job to them, you know?

Oh and one other thing... when you email bands asking about a show... be sure to have listened to their music at least once through... I don't know how many bands had emailed me or bandmates having no clue what we even sound like. So something like that speaks volumes that you would bother a band but not take 20mins to at least listen to their stuff.

Lien of Izalith told me that the instant he booked his own tour he understood why bands pay people to do it for them.

It's not that bad, but it's way easier to have someone else do it.















I would imagine, since I don't get involved with that shit.
