i always get stupid stupid lucky on amp trades. i got english marshall dsl and an fender mia strat for fender drri, turned around and sold the strat for 800 i paid 600 for the drri. i traded a zvex fuxx probe for a zvex nano amp and i traded the nano amp for a 80's jcm 800. got a fender tweed bassman ri 4 10 for 200$ not really understanding how i got it so cheap off of craigs list. i can keep going on. i always find amazing deals. part of collecting gear is having feelers out so i usually get tips from friends on good shit. got a 68 fender mustang for a 84 mia fender standard tele once. another wtf was that person thinking moment.

So far I have been on the losing end of two "great trades" here
I used to love the flips at whatever cost

dude ive been on losing ends too, however if its a piece of gear you needed and couldnt shell $ out for i always consider that winning. ive purposely been on losing ends just because i couldn't afford whatever gas i had and i need need needed it. so i consider that pretty win. i love flipping, and ill take a loss flipping if its something i need.

I definitely have been on the losing end of a trade.

Traded aforementioned AC15 for a TC Electronics Nova Delay, Nova Modulator, and an MXR Dyna comp.
I didn't WAY lose out, but I definitely did lose out.
Through trades, selling, and buying pedals cheap, I think I've recovered on the lost value there.
Maybe even came out on top a bit?
So it's all good.

Just traded a Rainbow Machine for a 2000 MIM Strat with Vintage Noiseless pickups and locking tuners. Not mint, but lots of mojo.

I paid $35 for an old Devi Ever 25 boost and someone offered to trade me a v4 Whammy straight up. I resold the Whammy for $125. Around the same time I bought a vexter fuzz factory for $50 and sold it for profit, so good.

recently traded $40 for an ACC 150 that had some out of control hum. 5 minutes of chopstick poking and I had the problem identified. Flowed some solder and DAMN! this thing sounds fucking great! Was planning on flippage, but we'll see. I forgot how good these sound at low volume (or high). could be a great nighttime downstairs amp.

Back when it was still vaguely current, traded a Porta 02 4 track that I was into for $35 and 5m of resoldering the AC adapter input to the board for a '65 Bassman head, 1x15 cab with a monstrously good JBL, and a couple boring pedals. Flipped the pedals for a hundred, was given a then-new Tascam 414 that was "broken" by a friend in the symphony.

All it needed was to have the belt on the tape mechanism reseated.

Best trade week I ever had I think. I used that amp for 5-6 years without complaint across a few hundred shows.

Got a '68 drip edge Bassman head and matching 2x15 for $125 when I moved out here in '98, the guy insisted I also take with an outboard reverb unit, enough cables to run a band, and a couple junky Teiscos that I trashed In performance.

Nothing but good deals on years of Bassman, whenever I needed one they'd appear for a song.
