I feel the same about pretty much most vintage fuzzes but on a tangent, dude... I swear I sold you a Tone Bender MkII clone I made years back with a bird on it, you still got that?
Yea, I still do, I haven't sold a pedal in like 3 years.
It gets pulled out occasionally but lives in the 'battery required' bin or it'd probably be on my board instead of the Ultimate Octave thing.

Like extremely tiny... so resistor changes are not going to happen...
BUT - I measured the Q2 collector voltage: 3,29V when on, 3,42V when off.
That's odd...
I found the "ideal" values online:
Q1
Collector 1.4v
Base 0.6v
Emitter 0.0v
Q2
Collector 4.5v
Base 1.4v
Emitter 0.8v
The trimpot is at exactly 12 o'clock. I'm gonna mess with that a little bit.
Dunlop sometimes biases some of the current FF models differently than the conventional wisdom "right" way. You might check in with their tech support to find out what the correct bias is for that model and if they have any alternate suggestions. The trimmer at 12 o'clock suggests maybe it didn't get adjusted by Dunlop, but who knows?

Ok, apparently I trashed the bypass circuit with my poking around. Awesome fucking move for an engineer, right?
It's "true bypass", but with a dpdt, so I'm guessing some sort of Millennium-esque bypass. That theory is supported by the smd transistors/resistors under the in/out jacks. And by the fact the Volume pot is set up. It's a freakin' 150 Ohm pot... So I think I know where the volume loss came from...
So what I'm gonna do is I'll replace the Bypass with a "real" 3pdt hardwire true bypass and the volume pot with a 100k. The FF circuit itself is still working fine, and with the bias set at 4,5V the Signal is def. stronger (on the 'scope).
So yeah, I know what I'm gonna be doing this fine afternoon

That's cool you figured out what was going wrong. Enjoy your ff

Real True Bypass'd!
Dunlop should really have better QC. The pot was a 500kA, but it only had 100-150 Ohms. The bypass kinda sucked too. Now I've replaced the Volume pot with a 100kA and put in a 3pdt to Hardwire the True bypass. Works like a charm and sounds 500% better and it is louder now also!
If anybody has a mini FF with similar issues, I can show you where to cut traces, add wires, etc. if you want to mod it. Now I have the nice FF sound of the big NPN with the cuteness of the mini.

You don't even have to unscrew the backplate to get to it... there's a little battery door you can just pop out...
to get..
to..
the battery..

Hell yeah! Some pedals have even better weed storage in them. Not looking at any maker in particular, coughDBAcough!!

Imagine the storage with a whole board of them.
