Current plan is 3: FB-2 -> MF Drive -> Oxide. There's already a lot of overlap between the Feedbacker and Drive though; if the Oxide turns out to be flexible enough I'll pull the Moog.
welp the moog is out and an elements is coming in. my pedal turnover rate is embarrassing.

Typically these days, two. Though I've worked a third in, maybe....not sure yet.
Going through old pictures of pedalboards, I was averaging around 4-5 for the longest time.

Currently just a Fuck OD --> LSTR (with a sparkle motion in front of both). But I have a Hawk on the way that I'm thinking will replace the LSTR. All SS/BS dirt!

At the moment I just use a fuzz war when playing out.
Anything added before or after it just seems pointless honestly

I think I had dirt make up 5 of my 7 pedals at one point.
3 would be stripped down. Gotta have a rat, something to boost it with, and a fuzz to shove all that in to.

3 U.F.O octave fuzz by HBE.
4 Zero fuzz by Noisemaker Fx.
5 Harmonic Transformer clone by CBC pedals.
6 Unpleasant Surprise by Fairfield Circuits.
7 Soda Meiser fuzz by Devi Ever fx.
8 Fuzz Huger by Fuzzhugger fx.
9 Fy2 Companion fuzz clone by CBC pedals.
10 Big Box Rat w/ruetz mod switches on each resistor and an LM308 chip and socket installed.
11 Mooer Triangle Buff muff clone.
12 Mooer Black Secret rat clone for the led clipping turbo rat sounds.

Soon to be 14 as I have a custom fuzz on order. Yes I love fuzz!!! Needs more fuzz.

two!
ss/bs Mini (it's just perfect, i don't want any dirt sounds other than this. if i need heavier i just turn up the gain knob.)
Boss FZ-2 (for crazy over-saturated slightly octave up fuzz. it sounds more like white noise than dirt.)
unless you count clean boosts or the subdecay noisebox. then four.

Oh wait my DIRGE has two dirt pedals in one... so it's typically 3-5 at any given moment....

Right now I have an meathead, absyth, into an spack vibes with a prunes and custard after my delay.
But, I am waiting for a special something from jero and a little something from Smallsound/Bigsound in the works (for many months at this point).
I think my dirt is mostly limited by cables and power, but mostly budget... cause I still want more.

Mainly 2:
Germanium FuzzFace (Fulltone '69)
Interfax Harmonic Percolator (Chuck Collins)
The next in line, but currently off-board:
"Reverse" v6 Muff (EHX ca.1981)
A Tonebender mk 1.5 is due to arrive any day now, so that will likely find its way into the mix...possibly even replacing the '69.

I've got a Rouge Overdrive for my stage 2 gain. Stage three is a Hyperion clone and a NYC big muff pi that run together and are triggered by and effects loop. When I want the sound to grind more I'll kick in the Overdrive for my stage 4. Then ive got a idiot box death ray set really low which causes it to do all these super subby warbles when paired with moar dirt, thats stage 5. And i have a Fuzz Factory clone coming soon that'll be my stage 6.

I use two typically, one to fatten up and gritty up the tone of my guitar and one to add crunch and sustain. Usually both are in a TB loop and used as a single dirt tone.

On my current board 5, 2 serve very different functions and the other 3 overlap a bit but not hugely enough for me to take them off.
Normally when I play live I only take a couple of pedals so it'll be Upper -> whatever other dirt pedal I feel like using that night, live I'm not too picky about the exact tone or whatever.

I use two usually.
In one song that we've got written there is a really slow, droney doomy part where I sometimes hit it with three and let it just SLUDGE out.
Fuzzrocious Demon King into Black Arts Toneworks Pharaoh into Fuzzrocious Rat King.
