Melvins - Honey Bucket
Ween - Johnny on the spot
Hum - Little Dipper
Butthole Surfers - Dust Devil
Primus - Mr. knowitall
Nine Inch Nails - Big Come Down
Torche - anything off In Return
Incubus - Certain Shade Of Green
Nirvana - Negative Creep
Jesu - friends are evil

This is a hard question I already want to change my list

Edit: shoulda put tool - "hooker with a penis" in there somewhere. Also keep thinking of skinny puppy songs and shit. So synth riffs count?

Superchunk - the first part
Godspeed - broken windows/locks of love (I think that's what it's called? About 13 minutes into 'sleep', with the shuffle beat)
Shotmaker - failure
Hoover - elctrolux
Chokehold - underneath
Policy of 3 - improv culture kill
Slowdive - souvlaki space station
Integrity - vocal test
Unwound - October all over
Kissitgoodbye - sick day (still the toughest, angriest riff ever written)

Not my definite top 10, just the first 10 that came to me:

Isis - Threshold of Transformation (especially the 2nd riff that comes in a minute in)
Black Sabbath - Hole in the Sky (underrated Sabbath tune)
Sleep - Dragonaut (obvs)
Tool - Reflection (bass riff)
Pelican - Last Day of Winter (epicness)
Red Sparowes - Alone and Unaware ... (ditto)
Motorhead - Ace of Spades (I don't care how cliche'd it is, that riff still makes me want to fucking jump around)
Jakob - Malachite (light and clean, but kicks my ass)
Shadows Fall - Idle Hands (this is about as far into metal as I go, but it kicks ass)
Refused - New Noise

Jesus, 7 of the 10 are album openers. That's weird.

This thread really loses credibility since no one has mentioned Velvet Underground - Sister Ray. Also, The Modern Lovers - Roadrunner. Seriously guys, what's going on? I wasn't going to say anything, but I felt I had to.

I hate top ten lists, yet feel oddly compelled to participate in them.

Therefore, I present unto you, the top 10 riffs of the moment (subject to immediate & arbitrary change):

1) Fugazi - Reprovisional
2) White Zombie - Welcome To Planet Motherfucker/Psychoholic Slag
3) Jawbox - Bullet Park
4) Superdrag - True Believer
5) Baroness - A Horse Called Golgotha
6) Them Crooked Vultures - Scumbag Blues
7) Luna - Sideshow By The Seashore
8) The Stone Roses - Fools Gold
9) Ride - Leave Them All Behind
10) Red Fang - Prehistoric Dog
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.
