Basically, get an Abra. They're way OP early game.

So you take your 20 sided die and you put in in the oven on low heat with the one facing up, you then give this die to the witch and hope to Gygax that it is weighted enough.

That's a problem right there.
You need to get all your busted gear into a pile. Then pour a circle of salt around it. Must be Epsom. Wait overnight. If everything is still broken in the morning, set it on fire.

I tried this once and it worked like a charm.
But first you have to clean it all with a mixture of bleach and ammonia.
