Yea, that's bullshit. Typical strong arm BS

Also I know it's not that important but EHX should really hire someone to design better art for their pedals, a lot of the new stuff looks terrible >.>

I've always liked EHX pedals quite a bit, but I also think the blatant comparison to the klon is sleezy. They could have hinted at it in any number of ways, and it would have taken 1 TGP thread to get the word out. Kind of a shame, but it's also not like anyone who has a Klone has been complaining that they shouldn't be directly marketed as Klon copies.
Interested to see how long this pedal lives and if any legal recourse is taken.

This is total fucking facepalmage here by EHX. I'm not even going to bother trying to defend them on this one. I'm not surprised nor do I really care that they're doing a Klone, but I think it's lame for them to just come right out and announce it. I mean, I'm not sure there's anything morally wrong with it, because it's not like the Klon is in production and in stock places, in which case EHX would be stealing business from them. EHX isn't stealing anyone's business here (well except for the assheads that make their own Klones and charge $300 for them, and well, they can fuck right off). But it just looks bad. It's just as fucking lame as their tubescreamer clone.
Regardless, either way, this a just another fucking lame pedal, and they've been making a lot of those over the last few years. It doesn't mean that I'm never going to use EHX stuff again, because they've done stuff I like. But they're certainly not making much I care about anymore.

The Klon guy has asked people to stop making clones as a courtesy in the past but I don't think there is anything legal he can do besides stopping people using the name, I'm surprised EHX outright used the name rather than just alluding to it.

I will say that I personally think that that's kinda bullshit for the Klon guy to get made about Klones. Look, you made a product that a lot of people want, and you only made a small amount of them and then stopped for like 5 years. What the fuck did you think was gonna happen? Either make more so everyone can have one, or don't get mad when people clone them.
But I just want to state for the record one more time, that this is not a defense of EHX. They're being dumb. I just think the Klon guy is dumb, too.

So who wants my $200 Scruffie Ton pedal? The scratching on the PCB is of no concern to you!

I just hope EHX goops it in true keeping with the spirit of the Klon. And they could at least provide a whimsical novel worth of text to cover the entire face of the pedal.

Nels Cline is the only one that springs to mind and "rock star" is kind of a loose use of the term, even though he's the shit
