Re: Fuzz recommendation
Can't wait for my Revelation to arrive, it should be here Tues. or Wed.
I saw some suggestions about running something before the fuzz. What would be the differences between running an overdrive pedal vs. a treble booster (like the Rangemaster)?

Depends on what kind of OD, but different dirt pedals all bring out different flavors in fuzz pedals.

Re: Fuzz recommendation
I personally like driving my fuzz pedals using a Bass Big Muff on the dry setting. Volume and Tone at 1 o clock and Sustain at minimum, gives everything a decent boost and fuzzes up the signal slightly.

It's awesome powers can seem a little hidden at first. You can stack it with anything and always sounds better. The BAT revelation is also totally fucking amazing, but has no eq section. But if you like the sound of your amp, particularly an already slightly dirty amp, then you'll be drooling on yourself with a revelation in front.

And I'd be remiss if i didn't mention the ape blaster. Full on face melting gain is the only setting available, but if you're cool with that it's very balanced across the frequency spectrum, stays tight with palm mutes and fast playing, has great note definition and just sounds awesome. I have hardly thought about other fuzz pedals since I got my hands on one a year and a half ago.
This. I also must recommend the Earthbound Audio Supercollider. No longer made under that name but worth looking for either the old one or the new company the dude started. It's a straight forward Muff variant which seems to be what you are after. Supercollider gives you a bit more control over the EQ of the pedal considering it has a mid and treble knob plus a depth knob as well. So you can get all sorts of distortion to fuzz tones.

Re: Fuzz recommendation
i'm pretty sure his new company also stopped making the v2 supercollider, which is a crying fucking shame, 'cause that pedal rules.

That dude just needs to stop making pedals. He flip flops like a mother fucker. He should just send me all the designs and I will just build under the Earthbound name and call it a day.

Re: Fuzz recommendation
So the Revelation arrived. I haven't had as much time as I would like to mess around with it yet, but...
Holy crap. This pedal is great. Definitely a good purchase. Thanks for the recommendation, I think this one is a keeper. I may still try to scoop up a used Pharaoh, LSTR, etc., but this the Revelation is pretty fun for what it does.
I actually didn't realize when I ordered it that there are 2 variations of the Revelation. I only realized this afterwards when I saw the various demos online and the ebay listing didn't mention which variation it was. Based on just the youtube videos I saw, I might have preferred a Super Bass, but I figured for $75 I'll give it a shot no matter which one it is.
Turns out it is the Super Lead variation, but I'm definitely loving it anyway. The low end is low enough that I don't really think it makes a difference.

Nice! I would Ape Blaster over LSTR, and getting a Pharaoh is always a good Idea. Pretty much all of the pedals listed here by everyone are going to kick some serious ass.

I've got deathmonkey's Rev. Superbass incoming. I'm definitely keen to compare notes.
Also keen to stack it with my Ape Blaster and Black Forest.
