Yea, the Foxx isn't a huge must have on my list of insanity octave fuzzes. It's pretty damn tame.

But it does stack well. I always find it sounds better if you feed it other fuzz.

I have other stuff I prefer to stack than it - the Foxx circuit on my board is there for generic bad rock fuzz, which ironically I don't otherwise have covered (I don't like Muffs).

I really like the octave sound on the Foxx.
Curious as to what you guys are playing.

For octave fuzzes in comparison right now, I have a Phantom Ring, Ampeg Scrambler, Fender Blender, some ugly custom one-off I commissioned in my 3-in-1 pedal, Blue Box, and the Joyo.

Any of the other ones go into outer space territory far, far faster and meaner.

Don't get me wrong, I like the generic octave thing of the Foxx sometimes, but it just doesn't take off when hit very hard like some of the other ones or start tripping over itself.

So what about the Joyo sealed the deal? Simply the better enclosure/layout, or something sonic?
With the octave engaged, both pedals sounded more or less the same, but with the octave off the Joyo had a bit more low end, and lots more clarity. Not to mention the better enclosure and the fact that you can engage/disengage the octave with your foot.

I love the Tone Machine. Love it. The fact that the octave up is controllable and actually tracks just about everywhere...all win.

Yeah lots of people swear by it, it's a classic. It's just not for me. I'm also not big on Big Muffs like rfurtkamp, so probably people like us don't prefer smooth fuzz.

It's true that the octave tracks really well, and it's very prominent. The Joyo is cool because of the footswitchable octave and also the mid switch. It really opens that pedal up.

Well, you've swayed me. I think I'm going to retire my Dano and keep my eyes open for a stoopid cheap deal on the Joyo. In the meantime, I've got an Octane clone being built for me as part of a trade - that should meet my octave needs and add some extra filth to my board.

I've been absolutely enamored with it the past few days, rolling my volume back on the octave setting, my bass sounds "notched" in this weird way. So sexy.
