Well based on the size of those alone, you need a bigger board. Adding 2 more strymons will take up 3 to 4 pedals worth of space. You could always kick that polytune off and use the H9's tuner, that's what I did. Not too much space saving since it's a mini, but it's something.jwar wrote:Oh and I want to eventually add a Timeline and Bigsky.

Re: I need a bigger pedal board...or do I?
nopers. i agree with you. i can't really go smaller than a Pro, i've tried but it's a tight pack to get what i need on a Pro. but mines is sort of 2 boards in 1, there's 2 outs and they're distinct side.doubleohno wrote:I'm gonna get mauled here, but the best thing I did was limit myself to a PT-1. I had a fully loaded PT-3 and wanted to go bigger, but I was spending way too much on pedals. I ended up sidelining things I could approximate with more versatile pedals - I made myself deal with bending over and adjusting my smaller filter instead of using my filter with presets, stuff like that.
i went from a Pro and PT-2 to a Pro and it's so much better and easier.
but i think it totally matters whether you're hauling that shit around all the time or if you have a spot at home.
f'realz 'do. way rather have it set up with a patchable second board than go to one HUUUUUUGE bugger.

Well for the band thing I'd only need like maybe a pedal or two. Nothing like I have. My board is mostly for fun, so lifting it doesn't matter at all right now. Until I hook up with that dream drummer...sigh.
I like the idea of a bigger board with a loop master in the front to switch between different sounds that I like. Maybe I'll go the custom route. Or make one.

Honestly, why even bother with a board? This might be lynch-worthy talk, but if you only need one or two pedals for the band you're in why not string everything together on the floor and grab the two you need for practice?
You can switch the order of things easier, it's not as much of a challenge trying to fit everything into a tight space, you'll never run out of board-space, and it'll be easier to reach the pedals to step on them. I'm going to switch to this soon because I don't have a band to play with, and if I ever want to jam with someone I can just grab a couple and head out. No problem.

Plus the hopes is eventually I'll be able to integrate more and more pedals...slowly...heh. You know, accidentally kick a fuzz pedal on. Whoops. What was that? Sounded pretty cool huh?

If you're going bigger I'd suggest a bigger pedalboard over multiple boards. I never could separate the boards enough to make it modular enough so I could leave part of it behind.

I would say it depends on what you use your board for. If the one your showing us is just your for fun board like you've said, then fuck it. Add all the things! if you want to have something for gigs and know you don't need everything there, make a separate small board for gigs. Just the things you know you need. Wont matter what it is as long as it sounds good, which is really the number 1 rule to remember.
Personally I have one board with just the necessities....which for me is like, 9 pedals.
But that works for me and sounds good so I rock it. Once I get more patch cables in I'll be splitting up the boards into a dirt board and a delay/modulation board for shits and giggles to see what it sounds like.

Fuck limiting yourself. More is more!
Creativity or a lack thereof has nothing to do with the number of pedals you have.

What works for you works works. I've done a lot of going back and forth between a small and big board in the past and I just like being able to get all my favorite sounds all the time, also I use a bunch off moogers so even though my board is really big I don't have a ton of actual pedals on itdoubleohno wrote:I'm gonna get mauled here, but the best thing I did was limit myself to a PT-1. Honestly, if I had the money and super strength to run several PT-Pro's at every gig I would do it
But I don't

I usually just daisy chain two together instead of loading up one big board.

Go second board given how tight your existing one is in terms of space.
That's a ton of stuff already, but if you need more, go board 2 and don't look back.

I'd get a second board before getting a board that's the size of a door.

goroth wrote:If you want to go bigger: get another pt. make an I/o on the side of both so when you set up you just plug both power supplies in, a patch cable between board 1 and 2 and you're good to go pedal wise.
Cable ties keep everything nice under.
I think you can't beat the strength/weight ratio of a pt, and if you're careful with your routing you can make it pretty tidy and maintain the ability to change up pedals.
If you're interested I'll take some photos of my board showing the io and the routing. I only use 1 board but the concept is the same.
2 boards is better than 1 huge & heavy
