Thanks, Tristan, I'll have to try that setting. I've got a Basic Audio Fuzz-Stainer, which is based on the same circuit as the Fuzz-Stang. Yeah, the attack on the Fuzz-Stang is a bias control. The bias control really makes it pretty versatile. I think you're right that it doesn't quite have enough bark and bite to truly do trumpet sounds though.

Bark and bite, I see what you mean, well we should talk about which or who's kind of trumpet sound you're trying to emulate then, talking about going into detail.
I mean if you're going for more of a warm, soft and melodic Chet Baker / Miles Davis type of thing the specialty of that sound to me lies in the blown type of character and indeed maybe the bit of spit in it as the Spit Valve implies and seems to replicate quite nicely, it doesn't need to be so brash and bright I think.
Then again for more of a traditional trumpet or even a Mexican style high trumpet sound you'd need way more bark and bite.
The Fuzz Stang MKII is quite brash and bright I'd say so possibly the Fuzz Stainer would also work quite well for a brighter type of trumpet sound, the Fuzz Stang MKII can't actually do the blown type character as well as the darker sounding fuzzes to me though so it seems to be a bit of a tradeoff.

Ah, right, you're probably right, it does sound nice on a trumpet too.
Rat + CS9 and some weird bending techniques makes for Scofield's trumpet tones, his most extreme one I always referred to as the elephant sound when I was a little kid.

Wow! Thanks guys! Wasn't expecting such a great response. I have my work cut out for me to see which of these great suggestions works best for me. The spitvalve sounds amazing but I'm guessing these are quite hard to find online.

I'm basically looking to emulate the trumpet sound used in Do Make Say Think's music.

^^^Wow...that is the closest I have heard. Can you elaborate more on how you achieved that sound? I am not sure what all the pedals are there.
